We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Erika Schultz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Erika, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is an important action when it comes to becoming successful in life/career. There is a direct correlation to what is seen as risky that involves some level of fear or need to confront something. Every time we are able to see the experience of discomfort as that which it is- fear- we can see that it is just a contrived experience lent to us by our story of ourself. That is, something we created in our own mind based on something in our past experience that has contributed to our view of the world. With that, we can gain access to creating a different story- reinventing the image of ourself as someone who is inspired by life/career with no choice but to put ourselves out there to the world to be embraced and desired. When we express our authenticity to the world and come from our heart, there is no fear, just love. This is the key to attracting success and creating it over and over again.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have the blessed opportunity to work with clients every week in identifying what is needed by their body in order to heal from chronic health issues. The more complex, the more rewarding. I love working with clients who have tried other approaches and have become stuck in their progress toward regaining their health. My success as a clinician comes from my unique training and professional experience. It comes from the combination of extensive academic learning and clinical expertise. It comes from having the right techniques, tools and products to produce a result. It also comes from my ability to access my intuition and communicate effectively with my clients. This is my second career as a professional and it has come so much easier for me because I followed my heart and made the sacrifices, took the risks and worked very very hard to build success. I truly feel led by a force bigger than myself on most days in my business and surround myself with people who also see the value of being a contributor to others (my incredible team). But getting a handle on my own failing health was CRITICAL to my success. I want people to know that they are more powerful than they know and if their true desire is live life fully, their body needs to know better health and vitality and that is available to them through working me and my team.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a fun one… I have a running list of things to do that I reference when people come to visit me because I have some sort of weird “stage fright” when it comes to thinking of things to do on the spot. This works well because when I discover something new I just add it to the list. Of course, living in Colorado trips to the mountains are some of my favorite things to do and recently I started running an AirBnB in Crestone, CO. It’s a unique dome home constructed by hand by a young man who planned to live his days out there until he met the love of his life. It’s quaint, unique and has majestic views and great access to hot springs all around, so of course anyone who visits me now wants to go see it. As far as the city goes, I love grabbing a lift to downtown and having dinner and walking around Union Station. I also love to see comedy or go to a semi-professional theater production.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My inspiration has come from many places- my family, my friends and certainly my teachers. Mostly though, my inspiration is found on a daily basis from my clients and their stories of struggle- from daily fatigue to complex auto-immune conditions. I am inspired by the messages that people receive on a regular basis that their health is somehow out of their own control- to help wake them up to a different experience and relationship to their body. I am inspired by the knowledge that within each one of us is this incredible innate intelligence designed to HEAL OUR BODIES. I am inspired to guide people back to that intelligence and knowing so that they are capable of BEING a contribution to this world.
