Meet Dr. Supatra Tovar | Clinical Psychologist, Registered Dietitian, Accredited Fitness Expert

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Supatra Tovar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Supatra, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
ANEW (Advanced Nutrition and Emotional Wellness) was created for busy adult professionals who want to improve their relationships with their bodies, families, and work life. At ANEW, our mission is to transform lives through comprehensive education in psychology, nutrition, health, and wellness. We are dedicated to promoting sustainable, science-backed practices that empower individuals to achieve optimal well-being. By leveraging expert knowledge and innovative content, we aim to inspire and guide our community toward healthier, more fulfilling lives, fostering a holistic approach to health and wellness.
The idea for ANEW was born out of my deep desire to help people break free from the harmful cycle of dieting and to foster a more positive, sustainable relationship with food, their bodies, and their overall well-being. As a clinical psychologist, registered dietitian, and fitness expert, I’ve seen firsthand how the relentless pursuit of weight loss and the pressure to conform to societal standards can take a toll on both mental and physical health. This inspired me to create something that goes beyond traditional diet and exercise advice—a platform that addresses the root causes of our struggles with food and body image.
Through my work, I encountered countless individuals who were frustrated by the constant ups and downs of dieting, who felt trapped in a cycle of guilt, shame, and self-criticism. I realized that what was missing from most diet and wellness programs was a comprehensive approach that addressed not just what we eat or how we exercise, but also our mindset, our relationship with ourselves, and our overall approach to health. This realization led to the creation of my book, Deprogram Diet Culture: Rethink Your Relationship With Food, Heal Your Mind, and Live a Diet-Free Life, and the accompanying online course. These resources are designed to help anyone frustrated by the ups and downs of dieting to reform their relationship with food and live diet-free for life.
You can pre-order Deprogram Diet Culture: Rethink Your Relationship With Food, Heal Your Mind, and Live a Diet-Free Life on Amazon today and begin your journey toward a healthier, more balanced life. Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work as a clinical psychologist, registered dietitian, and fitness expert is deeply rooted in a holistic approach to health and wellness. What sets me apart is the integration of psychology, nutrition, and fitness to create a comprehensive framework that addresses the mind, body, and emotional well-being of my clients. I believe that true wellness isn’t just about what we eat or how we move; it’s about understanding and nurturing the complex interplay between our thoughts, emotions, and physical health.
One of the things I am most proud of is the creation of ANEW—Advanced Nutrition and Emotional Wellness. ANEW represents my commitment to helping busy professionals break free from the cycle of dieting and cultivate a positive, sustainable relationship with food, their bodies, and their overall lives. Through my book, Deprogram Diet Culture: Rethink Your Relationship With Food, Heal Your Mind, and Live a Diet-Free Life, and the accompanying online course, I’m excited to provide practical tools and insights that empower people to transform their lives from the inside out.
Getting to where I am today professionally was far from easy. It required years of education, rigorous training, and the ability to balance multiple disciplines while staying true to my vision. The challenges were many—whether it was the demands of intensive study, the emotional toll of working with clients in deep psychological distress, or the pressure to build a business that aligned with my values. What helped me overcome these challenges was a steadfast belief in the importance of my work and the unwavering support from mentors and institutions that shaped my career. I’ve learned that resilience, adaptability, and a strong sense of purpose are key to overcoming obstacles and achieving success.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we are dedicated to transforming lives through science-backed, holistic practices. ANEW is not just about diet or fitness; it’s about creating a new paradigm of wellness that empowers individuals to live healthier, more fulfilling lives. My story is one of persistence, passion, and a deep commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Through ANEW, I strive to inspire and guide people on their journey to optimal well-being, helping them achieve balance, happiness, and a diet-free life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the institutions that have been instrumental in shaping my journey as a clinical psychologist, registered dietitian, and fitness expert. A special shout out to Body Arts & Sciences International (BASI) for providing me with a solid foundation in fitness and movement science, and to the CSULA Nutritional Science Program for equipping me with the knowledge and skills to become a registered dietitian. I am also immensely thankful to Sodexo Dietetic Internships for the invaluable hands-on experience that honed my practical skills in nutrition, and to the California School of Professional Psychology for their rigorous training, which was integral to my development as a clinical psychologist. These institutions have played a pivotal role in my professional growth, and I am grateful for the education and support they have provided throughout my career.
