We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Beeson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dylan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process in starting my business was to disrupt the continuum between travel agent trip planning and individual computer based(Online Travel Agency) travel planning. Our idea was to distill the overabundance and noise of information on the net and the older paradigm of travel agency planning, into a curated, multi-media platform of travel design. We think of it this way, there are people who do their own financial planning and those who entrust a professional to do everything. We are the private banker of travel planning. We guide, consult and offer a high-touch boutique experience but we do it down to earth. We really love to help people to have meaningful experiences, to heal, to be well, to find where the crowds are not, to come together as families. We are decidedly organic and focus on sustainable travel- not just greenwashing. We provide carbon offsets and work with smaller vendors who really care about their local communities and the local and global environment. We focus on mining beauty and meaningful experience so that people can maximize their time- the greatest commodity they own. What we own is the information, expertise and experience to help our client get greater returns on their travel experience while mitigating the consequences of making bad choices. That was the idea, we had no idea how things would grow into the multiple facets that have occurred.

What should our readers know about your business?
We focus on designing and curating travel that is different, off the beaten path, away from crowds to places that are incredibly beautiful but have not become overexposed. We use all of the senses to provide an immersive experience not only in the trip our clients take, but in the planning process. We tailor a playlist, curate videos and articles, webcams, running routes, hikes, places to take the best sunset pictures. We immerse our clients in what will be one of the very best top 5 experiences of their lifetime and we councel them on how to have a deep, meaningful and transformative experience. I think what sets us apart is that we truly, passionately care about our client and they can feel the joy and passion that authentically comes across. We have our 10,000 hours it takes to build expertise and that comes across.

I am most proud of the way our business has organically wended its way toward designing healing journeys and trips that are a lifelong culmination of celebrating a win or a triumph over hardship. For example, we have just created a trip to Mexico for a family to celebrate mom’s win over cancer, a healing trip to a wellness retreat for a man who is going through a crisis. We have a mom and a daughter going on a surf school trip and a family who wants to get away one year after their home was lost in a fire. We feel in our bones, the joy we help our clients find.

This process was not easy at all. I cannot tell you how many times I looked in the mirror and said, it isn’t working. And then I would get a lead or an order or I would tinker. I have pulled it all down to the studs and started all over several times. I talked to a business coach professor when I started, who said, “This idea will change 8 or 9 times until you hit what works.” He was so right. There are circles and cycles of motivation where you think that you are static but when you look back one year out, you say, wow I have come so far.

We have changed from designing individual trips to creating fortune 500 incentive and board travel, picklball retreats for a fortune 500 ceo, business to business consultancy to international travel companies, writing for yolo journal and the sky is the limit.

In the end, the motivation is to never have to work for a boss ever again and to share my superpower with others so that they can fly. When you share your superpower with others, they tend to share theirs with you and that is the point where you look down and say, wow I am really high up loving this.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh this is easy, I work with a marketing firm that I create corporate, off the beaten path team-building for. I would hit Lo-Hi, HIghlands, Rino, I would hit Red Rocks for a show, Boulder for Avanti Rooftop, Rayback Boulder. Cross country ski at Devils Thumb, Ski at lift free Bluebird ski area outside of Steamboat. I would do an organic farm to table dinner outside of Lyons and hike to Bluebird lake. Go to a show at Mishiwaka or Chataqua. Defintley head up to Goldhill inn for bluegrass.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The greatest way to recognize those who have helped me along the way is to recite the dedication from a manuscript I am writing called Tableau- Breif moments in a beautiful life of travel. Dedicated to Justin Kramer, My friend and mentor who is up there flying his piper super cub wherever he wants today. To my mom who, when asked, “Do you think I could be in the major leagues?” responded, “Dylan, I think you can be anything you want to be.” and she was right. To my dad who showed me the divine hand of beauty in the night sky above the East side of the Sierra and in the small spots on the dorsum of a Rainbow trout. And pointedly, this is dedicated to my best friend and wife, Stacy who pushed and pulled me up the mountain so that I could see the horizon of my potential.
