We had the good fortune of connecting with elise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi elise, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk is one of the most terrifying things in life, and that’s what’s makes the rewards on the other side of it so amazing. Risk has taught me a lot of things about myself. Takings risks and being too afraid to take them has allowed me to understand myself more and be aware of all the beautiful possibilities of life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like the beautiful part about my music is that it has many layers. If you are looking for intimate lyrics to relate to it can be that. If you just need a good beat to dance to it can be that. If you are looking for elements of jazz and a nice piano solo my music has that. I feel my music is different in the way I blend RnB, Jazz, and Neosoul with my own abilities to play keys and sing.

It most definitely was not easy getting to this point. I still have a very long way to go but the way I have overcome the challenges I have faced this far is through prayer and faith. I have learned that fear is what holds us back from the opportunity to explore the best parts of ourselves. I have come to truly understand how necessary every person’s existence is in what seems like a vast universe of people and things. We are all born with a purpose. I want my music to be nothing more than a reflection of human experience and emotion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend were visiting Colorado I would tell them the must eat spots include Welton Street Cafe, Bourbon Grill, AFC Wings and Fish, AJ’s BBQ pit, Urban Egg, The Bagel Deli, and Kike’s Red Tacos. As far as activities I would say you should start in Denver and go to the Art Museum, Red Rocks (especially for a concert), and the Botanic Gardens. After this you should make your way to the Rocky Mountain National Park for a trip and maybe even Vail for a nice weekend getaway and some snow fun if the weather allows it. Some of the best things to check out in Colorado are festivals that happen at various times throughout the year including the Taste of Colorado, Juneteenth, WinterPark Jazz, and the Black Arts Festival.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many individuals to thank that have contributed to the many wins I have seen on my journey thus far. I want to thank God first. He is my Creator and the one who has given me the ability to create music. My family is next, they have given me an environment to learn in music since the day I was born. My friends at Black Kosher have been promoting my music since the day I first released a song and for that I thank them. Lastly, to any musician that has ever devoted time, energy, and effort to my music whether that be on a track or for a live performance.
