We had the good fortune of connecting with Ellie Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ellie, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
There are a few things that have worked together to help my business evolve.

The first is working with a coach.  Having someone in my corner who fully hears and see me has been one of the best gifts I have given myself in life.  My first coach, Erin Wallen, kept asking me why I was pursuing my first business and I think that is because I kept sharing with her that I wanted to prove I could do it.  As we dug deeper together, my desire to help people with sustainable, intuitive weight loss bubbled up several times.  It was almost as though it would surface and then I would brush that desire off as thought it was impossible.

Fast forward and I decided to make the biggest investment I had ever made in myself and hired a business strategy and marketing coach: Samantha Siffring..  As we put the pieces together for how I really wanted to serve the world and the skills, life experience, and certifications I had completed, she asked me why I wasn’t a health coach.

I replied that I would love to do that but had no idea where to begin.

Samantha and I went to the white board and we wrote out the pain points of my ideal client, what they deeply wanted, and then mapped out the ways that I could be that bridge.  I help people create results and love the way they look and feel in their own skin through brain-based coaching, following my hunger scale, and refining their daily habits.

After creating my process for serving clients, it was time to get a client.  I had to really hold space for myself to fully believe in where I was heading without any evidence yet that it would work out.

Every day I did some self-coaching through limiting beliefs, showed up to create value through my social media and/or email list, connected with people both online and in the world, and made an invitation to explore how I might be able to help someone when I heard a need.

On a personal note, I spent time sitting in the feelings I imagined I would feel when I reached my big goal: awe, gratitude, and joy. I journaled, took great care of myself, allowed myself to have fun with my family and take breaks, and always have a coach cheering me on.

Fast forward about 4 months and I filled up my coaching practice, began a waitlist to work with me, and launched my first group program!

What should our readers know about your business?
When I was in my young 20s, I was a cyclical dieter. I was recruited to play D1 lacrosse at Columbia University in NYC and between our extensive workouts and not knowing how to take care of myself physically, emotionally and spiritually on my own, I gained the freshman 15 (more like 20!) and was desperate to feel like myself again.

I tried south beach, weight watchers, counting calories, weird African diet pills, and pretending to be French after reading French Women Don’t Get Fat.

Needless to say, nothing ever worked or lasted.

I worked with a therapist who introduced me to yoga and after years of daily mindfulness practices and finding joy within myself again, I found my high school weight again. In my young 30s, I lost 40lbs 3x’s postpartum without much drama. I feel healthier and more vibrant today than I did as a collegiate athlete and am so thankful to pay forward the gift of loving the way you feel in your own skin to other people.

I am a 500 hours certified yoga teacher, certified life coach, and have a nutrition for life certification from IIN.

I am so proud to offer a simple process to my clients and offer whole human coaching to my clients. One of the things that bothers me most about the diet industry is that they have made it so that people who gain weight because of stress think they need a diet instead of taking a look at the stress itself.

They say your weakness can become your super power and that is exactly what happened to me through years of showing up 1 day at a time. I have found a way of living that feels balanced and in which I savor my favorite foods AND human connection. You do not need to give up your favorite foods to lose weight and you don’t need to wait for the perfect time to start. I show my clients how they can truly have it all.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh my gosh this is such a fun question!!! Here are a few of my favorite things to do and places to eat in Denver:

Activities:

– I love hiking, walking on the high-line canal or Wash Park, and biking. I would honestly rent eBikes and stay on those the whole time – Denver is doing a great job upgrading our bike lanes!

– Nick and I aren’t big drinkers anymore but love the brewery scene. I would take my friend to Denver Beer Co, Ratio Brewery or Strange Brewery. There is nothing better than sitting and playing games in fun environments to pass time and connect.

Breakfast:
– I am a big fan of Lucille’s and Bruegger’s bagels by DU! I would order an egg sandwich to take with us for after our bike ride! At the Lucille’s on Evan’s, I love drinking the spiced tea and sitting outside by the fire pit!

Lunch / Dinner:
– I never met a taco I didn’t like and also love sushi. There are some amazing restaurants down in RINO such as Uchi and Work & Class. As far as Mexican, I love Uno Mas and other small taco shops.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh my gosh, I have a LONG list of people I would love to thank for helping me create the business of my dreams!!

Nick – my husband! He has supported me through all my ideas and empowered me to invest in myself. He also helps pick up the slack at home so that I can pursue my calling in this space.

My parents – they listen and support me through all the ups and downs of my thoughts and feelings in the daily grind of being a present mom, showing up for my clients, marketing and sales team with my other role as a partner with a global health food company

Leigh Miller – my business partner and greatest mentor and friend in the entrepreneurial world!

All my coaches – I deeply believe that the world would be so different if everyone had access to a coach.
