We had the good fortune of connecting with Elliot Hare and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elliot, what do you attribute your success to?
Our competitive advantage is that #TreadmillLife is about encouraging people that are working hard to overcome challenges within their own lives. It is a support movement carried by women’s fitness apparel. It’s development was encouraged by my recovery from a severe Traumatic Brain Injury and inspiring recovery is the most important factor behind the brand.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Thank you I am proud of all of it, 13 years ago I suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident that also took the life of my girlfriend. I was lucky to survive and had to relearn everything from talking to eating to walking. Telling my story encouraged a lot of people and I felt like I had to honor her life and help people somehow.

During my recovery when I was finally strong enough to get on the treadmill by myself I felt empowered, it filled me with the courage to take my recovery into my own hands. It developed into a women’s support movement called #treadmilllife and it is carried by women’s leggings.

I never knew anything about fashion so it took a lot of relationship building within the industry to find people I could learn from. I invested a lot of time and resources into product development research while all along supporting people’s own work and passions. Always holding true to the message of supporting others working hard.

The NPC bodybuilding community has been an amazing avenue to share the message. After attending a friend’s competition I presented my brand to the Colorado chairman and I began cosponsoring NPC events in Colorado in 2017. Many competitors and their families have shared their stories of overcoming tremendous challenges in their lives and love the leggings!

My brand is about encouraging people who are working hard to overcome challenges. That is what #TreadmillLife was built for. I have learned to appreciate anyone that will help, even as little as just sharing a conversation with me. A lot can be learned from the most surprising sources. Listening is key and pay your dues.

The most exciting and rewarding part of it for me personally is when I go to Craig Hospital to visit patients. I am proud to be a peer mentor at the same place that I rehabilitated at. My brand brings awareness to traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would maybe hit a Rockies, Broncos, Avalanche or Nuggets game for one. Enjoy the restaurant’s on Tennyson and all along 32nd in the Highlands neighborhood. Then spend a day at the Denver Zoo and enjoy some dining along Broadway. Get to a couple shows, hopefully one at Red Rocks! And get some exercise in running around maybe City Park or Sloan’s Lake. Cheers.
