We had the good fortune of connecting with Cypress Willett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cypress, how does your business help the community?
My healing arts business focuses on my client’s own intuition and personal responsibility. One of my biggest challenges in this life has been to trust my own intuition and to not give my power away to people who I thought knew better than me. In actuality, our bodies and intuitions communicate with us all the time and it is just a matter of being able to listen and trust ourselves. To be able to distinguish between our feelings and our thoughts and to understand where these feelings or thoughts are coming from…fear-based or love-based, is an important skill that a lot of us were not taught early in life. Once we are able to confidently trust ourselves and follow our own intuitions, we begin to have more control in our lives. We begin to see that most of the situations in our lives are here to teach us something about ourselves. When we recognize this and work with it instead of against it, we can take more personal responsibility for our lives and we can change things if we choose to.
I think the state of our society generally reflects the state of our individual lives. Until we take personal responsibility for ourselves, our actions and reactions, our thoughts and feelings and change what we do not like, we will have a hard time finding peace on a grander societal level.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is called Singing Cypress. It is an energy healing practice that mixes several modalities including Reiki, shamanic healing, energy reading and personalized medicinal art. I began this practice many years ago, very slowly, while I was also working as an emergency room nurse.
I always wanted to leave nursing and practice (what I believe to be) a more fundamental form of healing. In my view, energy is the precursor to everything in the physical world, including disease and trauma. I wanted to work at THAT level instead of the reactionary way we practice medicine in the Western world.
It was not easy for me to leave the secure world of nursing and western medicine, but I made the leap…or maybe I was pushed off the cliff…either way, I’m glad I did. I had to (and continue to) work through a lot of fear based thoughts about survival and being “good enough”. Working through these fears, I have learned to trust myself and my intuition in a deeper way.
I am also very grateful for my nursing career as I believe it sets me apart from a lot of other energy healers. I have a working knowledge of the physical body, disease processes and medications. I understand that we need both forms of healing…that one is not more important than the other, but can work in conjunction with each other to manifest the best results.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place to be in this area is up in the mountains, hiking and sitting with the trees. One of my favorite trails is Sleepy Lion trail in Lyons, CO…but honestly, all the trails around here are amazing. Being with nature is such a rejuvenating experience and it is the only way I can unwind and fully connect with my inner world.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have had so many helpful people in my life on this journey. Basically, every situation I have encountered in this life has lead me to be the person I am today, so I acknowledge ALL the people in my life…those who I am/was happy to be involved with and those I was not. Honestly, the people who taught me the most were the people who, at the time, I felt most hurt by. That being said, there were some training I took that really helped me to open my intuition and to get my energy running in a way that promotes self-trust.
I studied for several years at Psychic Horizons in Boulder CO. There I was taught a lot about reading energy and feeling energy in my own body. It was a basic building block for rediscovering my own intuition. I was also involved in a three year shamanic practitioner training in Boulder where I trained with 24 amazing colleagues and friends. Without their support, I would never have made it through that training and I wouldn’t be as happy and fulfilled as I am today.
