We had the good fortune of connecting with Emely Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emely, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work life balance has changed so much over the last 2 years! I worked full time 2 years ago today, and now I get to make my own schedule! I love being able to balance child care with work and schedule things in a way that allows for me to be at my children’s events and activities. It is truly a luxury that my family did not have when I was growing up and I am eternally grateful to have now!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As cheesy and cliche as this may sound, I am most excited about taking the plunge and starting my own private practice! This is something I have dreamt of but always told myself I should put off until I was “more capable” and “knew more.” Ultimately, it was a friend of mine who convinced me that I should go for it, by telling me there was no reason to continue to wait, I could do it now and start learning! It was not easy navigating all the of the things needed to start your own private practice, I am still in the process of learning and I truly don’t think the learning will ever stop! I think one of the biggest challenges I am still learning and working to overcome is marketing! I have learned that I need to come out of my shell and network with others.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shout out to Patrece Hairston Peetz, who has provided me with so many opportunities I would not have dreamt of and has always supported me, encouraged me, and hyped me up!
