We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Schmidt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been someone that wanted to have my own thing, I’ve been told I have the personality for it! I really wanted to find something that drove me, allowed me to be creative, work with people and tell their stories. I found my way in to wedding photography and fell in love- actually, I fell in love first and planned my own wedding then I didn’t to stop.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For me, wedding photography is all about telling a love story. Sharing in the joy, love and laughter that goes along with it, that’s what my art is all about. What sets me a part is my passion, I enjoy getting involved with the wedding itself, I want to help couples make their vision come to life, give them peace of mind on their wedding day, connect with them. That’s how I tell their true story.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m actually so excited about the Cherry Creek Arts Festival coming up! I’d start with a coffee at Olive and Finch, head to Cherry Creek to see the artists and then stick around for a snack at Cherry Cricket! If not for the festival, I’d probably spend the day at The Denver Botanic Gardens!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family & my husband, they’ve always been so encouraging and supportive even when it’s been tough!
