We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Stuber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
As a working mom with many areas of passion I have worked to find ways to combine my interests with my work and to work purposefully to carve out space for my family and myself. This is a journey and requires patience, flexibility, and compassion for myself in the moments where this feels easy and the moments where it feels impossible. I have found resources like the work of the Nap Ministry, coaching and healing offerings, and a strong community of friends to be critical for my own undoing of my hyperproductive tendencies. When I am rested, when I am nourished, when I am supported–I can move forward in a way that honors my intuition and truth.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Cassia Collective is a start-up nonprofit based in Littleton. We started as a small group of women dedicated to practicing authenticity in small women’s circles after remembering the power of gathering as women at a retreat called Hustle&Flow in April 2023. Mia, my co-founder, and I both experienced major challenges in late 2023 that led to us taking purposeful time to heal and remember our own worthiness in that process. As two mothers to young children we realized we need to heal ourselves first in order to best heal our families, friends, and communities. We have grown from a small circle practice to offering a weekly open circle to women in our sweet office space in downtown Littleton and have BIG dreams for where we are headed.

Cassia Collective is founded on the belief that all women are worthy and deserving of the time, space, and opportunity to prioritize their own healing while building resiliency in community. Our foundation is our circle practice, open to women of all ages and stories. As we grow Cassia will be able to provide funding for women to receive access to alternative and preventative healing through mini grants and then eventually through a larger Life Sabbatical program that honors the sacred pause many women find themselves called to take in a society where care-taking is devalued and yet so critical.

This work has not been easy–we find ourselves reminded over and over again that authentic work takes time and to slow down and listen to our intuition. As a startup nonprofit awaiting federal tax determination we are limited in our fundraising capacity and yet have big dreams that feel more important now than ever before to provide financial access to alternative and preventative healthcare to women. Working in relationship means that we have to show up for one another and our families as people first. We have learned so much about authentic communication, what it means to be female leaders, and how to do all this work with our heart forward.

Cassia is growing and we want the world to know that women are worthy of healing and in doing so they heal the world and their communities. We encourage each of you to find ways to practice authentic connections in your life-whether that’s a circle practice, a chat with a neighbor, or an intimate sharing with a loved one. We firmly believe that when we come together there is so much change possible. Our most resilient selves are found in authentic community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I have someone in town to visit I always start with a visit to my favorite places to eat-Onefold in Denver or Zomo in Englewood. We can stop for a coffee at Dirt Coffeeshop in downtown Littleton before we join a circle at the Cassia office space just across the street and then head to Upswell Studio for a yoga class or sauna. For something unique I would take them to Spectra Art Space and then for a walk around Wash Park. If we had the time and it was the right season we would head to the mountains to hike-a few favs are Guanella Pass, Staunton State Park, and Waterton Canyon.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My personal transformation and the work I lead with Cassia and as an Embodied Transformation Coach would not be possible without the framework from the book Beloved Economies. I am learning to prioritize relationship, trust there is time, and to source multiple ways of knowing. This is hard work in a hustle and grind focused world!

I am also a yoga instructor and avid wellness practitioner at Upswell Studios–a space where I can move my body, participate in recovery, and exist in community. I would also not be where I am as a mother, human, and business woman dedicated to doing things differently without the amazing influence of Heidi Whitehead at Family Village and the heart behind the amazing annual retreat Hustle&Flow.
