We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
It’s not all fame and glory. There is a lot behind the scenes that has to be done before the big show happens. Everyone sees fight night and this glorious event but what they don’t see is the 6-8 weeks of stress that I deal with leading up to the event. Getting fighter medicals in, replacing injured fighters or fighters that fall off the card for other reasons. Dealing with venues and state commissions. Cage and production setup times and the unforeseen things that happen at weigh ins and on event night that call for last minute decision making that affect how the show plays out. I always figure it out and make it look great!
What should our readers know about your business?
Fury Fighting Championship is a professional mixed martial arts organization. We host pro mma cage fighting events in the USA. We are one of the fastest growing regional promotions in the world. Our events stream live on UFC fight pass and are shown in over 200 countries. I work countless hours to find the best talent all over the world and bring them to fight in the Fury Fc cage in hopes that they get seen by the UFC, Sending our fighters to the UFC is the ultimate goal. It hasn’t been easy getting to where we are today but it was worth it. We dealt with being the new guys on the block for many years at the beginning but with persistence and hard work we began to show how good our shows our. More and more fighters around the world begin to reach out for opportunities and we were always willing to give them a chance to prove themselves. I am a die hard mixed martial arts fan, I myself have fought mma on the amateur and professional level, I am a black belt in Brazilian Jiu jitsu and my goal in Fury FC is to help fighters change their lives and be able to provide a living for themselves and their families once they make it to the big show!! Straight outta Fury FC!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well! My favorite restaurant is Pappasitos Mexican cantina! That would definitely be on the top of the list!! If they were in town when they UFC is in Houston, that would be where I would take them. We would start at pappasitos for food and drinks and then head over to the Toyota center for some great UFC fights!! The day before we would definitely hit the weigh ins and throughout the week maybe some UFC fighter open workouts!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife has supported me in everything I have done. Her support and understanding in my hectic and busy schedule has set comfort in me and allowed me to work and not worry about my household. She understands the sacrifices that I make for her and the kids. Our relationship is so strong because we connect on so many different levels. My good friend and matchmaker Richard Burmaster shares the stress and headaches of running these events and his support and friendship makes the events run so much smoother. My good Friend Mick Maynard paved the way for a promoter like myself to do what I do. His support and advice in my business dealings helps me so much .
