We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Lindsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think some of the best things come from taking a chance or a risk. That’s how you push yourself and see what you’re capable of. I joined the military when I was 19, which took me all over the country, and gave me a new perspective on life. When I was a bit older, I had the opportunity to move to England and decided to go for it. During the 3 years I lived there, I got to travel a lot and experience things that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Those things changed my photography style and my life in general. With my photography, I like to take risks with how creative I can get. I’ve been fortunate to meet and work with many other artists in the area including fashion designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, and models. I love being able to combine our ideas and see what we come up with together. We have fun, but also push each other to be better.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think my photography style is a bit different because of the life experiences I’ve had. I try to bring that full experience to my clients. Not only do I help them with location and wardrobe choices, I also like being able to bring the same level of creativity and high-end editing from my fashion and beauty work to every session. Whether it’s headshots, branding, or portraits, I feel like that has developed my style to be a bit more unique and give their photos a little extra something.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is an interesting question with most things being limited or closed right now. We’re very fortunate in Colorado that there are so many outdoor things to do and see.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to Kim and Kevin Davis, the owners of Level 4 Studio in Colorado Springs. They’re amazing people who try to help everyone in our community when they can. They provide a wonderful space for us all to learn and grow as artists. Kim is also great at networking and has connected me with lots of great people in our industry that I continue to work with. If you need to rent a studio space for a photoshoot or podcast, check out Level 4!
