Meet Erika Benavente-Arzola | Colorado Esthetician & Master Lash Technician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Benavente-Arzola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought behind starting my own business was that I needed to do something that I enjoy in a daily life, I needed to get out of the norm hamster wheel, working Monday through Saturday an 8 til 5 job. Needed to start spending more time with my family especially during the holidays. I’m the type of person that get board easily and stops enjoying work after awhile. Starting my own business gives me that daily adrenaline not knowing what my next client has in mind for lashes or what’s the clients concern/goal for their skin care.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I feel that sets me apart from others is that my career is my hobby I focus on my clients wants and needs, In someway I’m not only there esthetician but also there counselor/confident. How I got here was that I needed to get out of my comfort zone, challenging my skills, needed to give myself and family a better future. No it wasn’t easy I had to get back to college I was not happy at my old job and also I didn’t want to be a stay home mom and only rely on my husband income. The challenge I went through was I had to get back to college, and for my age I felt it was going to be a bit harder but once I started nothing stopped me. Each day I had a better vision of what I wanted to do, it showed me so many possibilities that I could do with my esthetician license. The lessons that I’ve learned never giving up, if I would run of the ABC options will the next would be numbers and those are infinite. What I would like for the world to know is that we are all originally unique, that we don’t have to nobody’s replica. We all have a gift/talent to better ourselves and this world. If life throws you lemons will pick them up and make your self the greatest lemonade to celebrate all of you accomplishments. Never compete with anyone but with the yesterday version of yourself. Let’s not be selfish and tech our knowledge to anyone who would like to do the same, there’s enough clients for all of us to work on.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would suggest my friend first to get pampered at Glamorous Aesthetics with some good lash extensions, and after a relaxing facial. I would then take them up to Rockymountains for a hike so they could get the greatest view of our nature. Black Hawk to enjoy some casino/gambling time. Also would do Coló Springs Cheyene Zoo and visit the Seven Falls/Garden of the Gods.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would Iike to dedicate this to my parents (Ofelia Gutierrez & Jose Benavente) to my husband (Martin Arzola) my children (Julian & Mauricio Arzola) my sisters (Cynthia, Jessica, Yessenia Benavente) and to all my clients that support my small business.
