We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Jerome and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Two years ago I wouldn’t have even known how to begin to answer this question, but here I am today, 1 year & 2 months into owning my own business. Oh, did I mention, that roughly 17 days after I began down my path as “business woman”, I was forced to shut my doors due to the pandemic? Crazy. I know, but to be perfectly honest giving up never even crossed my mind. I’m a wife, & a mom to 3 littles who depend on me. When I got the news that we were going to have to close our doors, I immediately jumped into “survival mode”. I joined forces with other local business owners in my town, created community fundraisers, & got creative on ways to generate an income through an E-Commerce site. I’ve learned over the years that nothing in life is handed to you, especially not success. It takes a lot of hard work, & there are always going to be obstacles. Its having the passion, & drive, for what you do that keeps you going.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was born to be a cosmetologist. Nobody, & I mean nobody, could makeover a barbie like me. So, as you can see, it was destiny. The road, while challenging at times, was nothing short of rewarding in the end. I am part of a select few that can get out of bed every morning & say “I love what I do”. My job is so rewarding, in so many different ways. I’m there with my clients through weddings, anniversaries, births, deaths, & everything in between. I’m truly invested in every guest that sits in my chair. I laugh with them, I cry with them, & I listen to them, sometimes when nobody else will. I guess you could say that may be what sets me apart. I want every person who sits in my chair to know how important they are, & I want to make them feel as beautiful on the outside, as they are on the inside.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The ultimate day out in Wellington, Colorado would of course start off with a visit to my favorite coffee shop, Owl Canyon. Its an experience you wont get anywhere in the big city. The coffee is to die for, & the homemade baked goods, just make it that much more desirable. After I’ve gotten my caffeine fix, there’s nothing more relaxing then taking a scenic drive up the Poudre River. The gorgeous scenery, the sound of the rapids, the animal life, its just something that takes your breathe away every time you experience it. To wrap the day up, I love visiting my favorite brewery, Soul Squared. The beer is delicious, & the company is nothing short of amazing. There’s nothing more enjoyable than the Colorado sunshine, on the patio, with an ice cold craft beer. Wellington is an amazing community, & I am so lucky to call it my forever home.
