We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Stump and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Being my own boss and running a business was always something I had imagined for myself. I knew that there was a purpose inside of me that I needed to share with the world, it just took me many years to figure out what that was.
In 2015, I started would what become a lifetime journey of self-love and body acceptance. I started reading books and figuring out what spirituality meant to me. Through this work I found myself wanting to share what I had learned, the work I was doing, and my newfound acceptance of my body.
In 2016, I decided to start a blog to share all of this with other women. I had a hope that I could help other women find these same things. This is truly where the idea for my business was first planted, but I wasn’t sure how that would look or what it would become.
In 2018, I decided to make the leap and get my Life Coaching and Reiki certifications. I knew it was time to take my personal work to a new level and help other women to really embrace themselves and live the life they want to live. PeaceLoveandBubbly the business was coming into the world.
At the beginning of 2020, I fully made the leap and started my LLC. Needless to say the Pandemic really pushed me to examine how I wanted to work and what kind of company I wanted to run. Shifting from being a blogger to running a Coaching and Reiki business was a big leap. Some days I feel like I am still finding my footing but I know this business is going to grow into something even bigger than my first idea.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my capacity to hold immense space for other women to truly heal. I spent many years, of my adult life, with my heart closed off to the world so this is a huge area of growth for me. To be able to live my life and work with an open heart helps me connect with my clients in a space of energetic healing and growth.
It really helps me to hold a vision of what I want to put into the world where my business is concerned. Every time I work with a client I envision them also living with an open heart and putting their amazing energy and ideas into the world to change it for the better.
I’ve gotten where I am professionally by always choosing myself. It was really a struggle when I first started because everything was a learning curve. It felt like an uphill battle for a solid year but it also expanded my knowledge, skills, and determination. I think my ability to be extremely stubborn and self-compassionate is what truly allowed me to overcome these challenges. Whenever I felt overwhelmed or frustrated I would take a pause and come back to it when I was in a calm state of mind. I constantly had to remind myself that I was learning 100 new things all at once and it was going to take time.
There are so many lessons I have learned on this journey and I know there will be so many more to come. I think the best lesson I have learned is not to give up. Every time something is hard or isn’t working the way I want it to I keep going. I have to be able to shift directions and still hold my vision for my company and life at the forefront.
Honestly, I am my brand. I live my brand by choosing myself, working to create the life I desire to live, and continuing my healing journey. I never want to stop learning and growing and that is what I want for all of my clients. I want to see them going after their dreams. Living confidently and fully loving themselves and their bodies. There is so much unlearning women have to do when it comes to our lives and bodies because we live in a society that often tells us we are not enough. I have been on this journey for 5 years and I still find myself having to unlearn old beliefs and habits.
I want to live in a world where women feel safe to fully be who they are. I think this is deeply connected to changing our world for the better. More women standing in their power, living the lives they want to live, creating our own tables and showing up for each other instead of competing with one another. That is a big Why for me and this business of mine. Living my brand is important because I have to go first as a leader.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love exploring my city and finding new places to eat, visit and hang out. I would absolutely take them to the RiNo district for the artwork and drinks.
A must is the Woods Restaurant in the Source Hotel for a few drinks because you cannot beat that view.
I would also take them to Purgatory Winery in Parker because they have great wine and it just has a good vibe.
It is so hard to pick a specific place that we would go because I often find new places for us to try when people visit. It is fun because it gets to be a new experience for all of us.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people have helped me and supported me on this journey. My husband Leo Gray deserves a great deal of credit as he has supported me completely in building this business, being my photographer, being there when I wanted to give up and always encouraging me and celebrating my success.
My friend Beckie McLeod of Healthy Haven Acupuncture because she truly helped me get my Reiki practice off the ground.
Finally, every one of my amazing clients who continue to choose me as their Coach and Reiki practitioner. Being able to witness their journeys and be part of their wins is truly the best part of what I do.
