We had the good fortune of connecting with Esmeralda Zavala and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Esmeralda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting a business is a very nerve wrecking thing. When I started my business my intention was to remain as organic and authentic as possible. Of course I wanted my business to take off and to have a major impact, but in the back of my mind I repeatedly told myself to do things for me, things that would make me happy. Eventually if people enjoyed my work, it would get the recognition I craved. To this day I keep this thought in my mind. Remaining true to myself and my work has allowed me to succeed in an immense amount of ways.
What should our readers know about your business?
Beginning my photography business was a very challenging thing, but I must say I wouldn’t change anything about my journey. Every moment in this business has taught me a great lesson. Each “mistake” has been just as rewarding as every accomplishment that I have had. I learned to really push myself out of my comfort zone and that has helped me excel and thrive in my career. Attending workshops, content days, and networking with other photographers is something that I am forever thankful for. The beauty of my career is the fact that I have the opportunity to meet incredible people and see the most breathtaking places. I’m excited for the future of my business, I plan on traveling a lot more come 2022 for destination weddings! Another thing I’m very excited about is the fact that I always learn something new. Learning new things is such a rewarding experience in itself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We live in such a beautiful state. Colorado has so much to offer. I have had the opportunity to visit so many beautiful places in my home state. Any time a friend comes to town I give them a few options, we can go to Boulder and explore Flagstaff mountain. My favorite view is at Lost Gulch Overlook you can catch the most breathtaking view of the Rockies. Another option I enjoy giving my friends is exploring Denver. It truly is a beautiful city. We would start off by roaming through RiNo and admiring the artwork that our great artists do for us. We would then go to Union Station, it is one of my favorite spots, the terminal bar has the most delicious cocktails. I’m definitely a food lover and my friends definitely appreciate that. My all time favorite restaurant in Denver is Uncle, they have the BEST ramen that I have ever had.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There a great amount of people who have helped me get to where I am today thanks to their encouragement and love. As an artist when you are first starting out it can be a very intimidating thing. My family has supported each and every one of my decisions especially when I have felt like giving up. My biggest fan and supporter is my three year old daughter, Amelia. Everything I do, I do for her. She is my greatest motivation and I am forever thankful for her.
