We had the good fortune of connecting with Ethan Snow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ethan, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I’m really determined and self disciplined. Not in all aspects of my life, but in the areas that I’m passionate about. I can be pretty obsessive in my approach to new things, and sometimes it’s tough to keep the drive going, as time goes on. I think that’s where self discipline comes in. Knowing that good things will come, if you keep working hard and staying diligent.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I really enjoy making bright, colorful paintings and drawings. I love being outside, hiking and exploring. I love nature and animals. (People, not so much, haha) I’ve been lucky enough to have lived in some really beautiful places. I was born in Oregon, grew up in Hawaii and California, and have lived in Colorado since 1998. I didn’t take up art until recently, and I don’t have any formal training, so I think my life experiences have had the biggest influence on my work. People tell me that I have a unique style, but I wouldn’t really know what to call it. Im just trying to do my thing and spread a little joy. 🤩
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not a huge city person so I don’t think we would be hanging out around town a bunch. I think a trip up to the mountains would be more my speed. Locally, I really like to explore the Indian Peaks Wilderness area. So many great places to hike around and enjoy the beauty of Colorado.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife, and best friend, Rossie, is responsible for my discovery of artwork, this late in life. I’ve always appreciated art, but I never tried drawing or painting. I think I took an art class in middle school once but I don’t remember anything I learned. In early 2020 when things shut down due to Covid, Rossie brought home a bunch of art supplies so we could maybe try a new hobby. I started drawing at first, then decided I wanted to teach myself to paint. So I started painting in October 2020, sold my first commissioned piece about a month later, and have been going at it nonstop since. Rossie has constantly encouraged and supported me and I’m eternally grateful.
