We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evan, what do you attribute your success to?

When I looked at this question, I felt a deep connection to it. When
someone asks, what is the most important factor behind your success,
many things may come to mind. Friends, family, hi and low moments
in your life, or even relationships. For me, it was investing in myself.

I’m specifically talking about being able to invest in your abilities and
skills. For many of us, we invest in cars, homes, and education but
how many times does one invest in themselves?

I did not learn this lesson on my own but I was able to hear elders and
people I look up to speak on the concept of investing in yourself. To
me, investing in myself meant trusting my own abilities and skills to
put me in a position of success. This may be different for many people
but for me it meant putting my career and finances in my own hands.

We spend so much time investing in other things under this notion that
it will bring us some form of success or happiness. I believe investing
in yourself is the grand prize of self-accomplishments. It means that
you took the opportunity to recognize your skills and abilities.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

There are several different directions I could go with this question.
However, there are specific events that I would like to speak on. I’m
excited about the opportunity to provide mental health, nutritional
health, and physical health to communities in the Denver area.

More times than not, one thinks of mental health as just the
functioning of their brain, thoughts, and beliefs. This is true to an
extent but as people, we are more than just our brain and thoughts.

There are several sections of us that have to be acknowledged and
addressed when one is on their healing journey. I’m excited about
providing relief in these three areas. I wanted to build a clinic that
would be able to provide assistance to individuals in each one of these
areas. Mental health, nutritional health, and physical health.

I believe one cannot fully embrace their healing journey unless these
areas are being addressed. LighthouseTherapy is a mental health
clinic that addresses these areas. I’m excited about giving multiple
groups access to get the help that they need.

There are too many agencies that charge absorbent amounts to get
services in these areas. I set out to make my business affordable and
convenient to all. I don’t believe individuals should make the decision
between eating and getting help with their mental health.

I’m excited and humbled when clients give us feedback about being
able to see them on such short notice and not costing an absorbent
amount to get the services they need. This is something that brings
me joy and lets me know that I’m on an honest path.

It took overcoming several obstacles to get to the position where I am
today. I had to overcome living out of my car when I first moved to
Denver and the instability of job security. Living out of my car was not
as bad as it sounds but the job security was more frightening. The job
security was an area that I was unsure about due to the lack of
leadership that I experienced, the disregard to the actual needs of
clients, and this was a repeating pattern of other clinics.

I’m not here to talk down on them, my goal is to spotlight light that
mental health services are needed throughout communities and
individuals should not be turned away because of insurance reasons
or the lack of funding. To me, mental health services are human rights.

I’ve learned several lessons along my entrepreneurial journey and
they all have aided in refining who I am. The most significant lesson
would be investing in yourself. This struck a chord with me because I
spent so much time investing in other companies and other people to
make me happy but I didn’t realize investing in myself and investing in
my skills would project me further in life and business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

This is a great question. Living in Denver there are so many things to
do and see. If I had a friend visiting for a week I would first take them
to my private club. We would have a nice dinner, shoot some pool,
and have a drink on the patio. This would be my way of giving back
and showing them a different lifestyle that I live.

I would then take them to some upscale cocktail lounges throughout
the city. I would want to show them a laid-back and relaxed type of
atmosphere that is sophisticated in its own way. I believe they would
enjoy this transition and give them an opportunity to be around a
different crowd of people.

Of course, I would take them to the mountains. A trip to Colorado is
not complete without going on a nice hike and getting an opportunity
to see the exquisite relationship between the city and nature. I would
take them to one of the hikes close to Red Rocks Amphitheater. It’s an
easy hike and it has its own beautiful views of the city and gives them
an opportunity to climb a mountain.

For the last day or two, I would take them on a stroll through Colfax
avenue. Colfax comes with its own “unique charm”. We would catch a
show at either Fillmore, Ogden, or Bluebird. These are all options and
each venue has its own characteristics about them.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

There are several people that have traveled with me on this journey of
entrepreneurship. I would first like to recognize Dr. Mary Ann Watson.
She has been my mentor through this process and she has been able
to give me insight to what it means to be a business owner and what it
means to slow down and not be in a rush to get to the finish line.

I would also like to acknowledge my team at LighthouseTherapy.
Although we are still growing, we are a dedicated team of clinicians
that focus on healing communities through mental health. I want to
acknowledge; Mrs. Tabitha Stanton, Ms. Megan Forrest, Ms. Jelsy
Martinez, Ms. Emily Dorko, and Ms. Brandi McConnell.

These women have been instrumental in the success of my business
and I’m thankful that they are a part of my team. They bring their
unique personalities and expertise in their field of choice. They are the
individuals that make LighthouseTherapy different from the usual
mental health clinic. So I thank them for all they have done in this
journey.
