We had the good fortune of connecting with Ezekiel Cortez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ezekiel, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
The balance shifts based on growth, as you grow, more time has to be put into the business. It’s elusive. I don’t believe in balance all that much.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’d say there isn’t one single thing that separates us from other companies, it’s several things. Our customer service. Our quality of food. Our portions. Our engagement with a registered dietitian. The fact that we are planet friendly.

We got here by making tough decisions. Working through grueling hours. Setting up booths at events. Marketing… There is just a million different reasons why we are where we are. It wasn’t ever easy and to this day, it doesn’t ever get easier. The challenges are ever growing and overcoming them was as simple as breaking it down step by step. We never looked ahead of a challenge, just focused on what was right in front of us at the time.

Lessons:
-Give more than you take.
-Take action.
-Never quit and certainly do not develop a plan b.
-Be faithful

I’d like the world to know that the Super-Natural Eats brand was made from scratch. We started from nothing and have made it this far… I believe that if someone like me can do it, so can you or anybody else that has big dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Good question.

If they were visiting relatively soon, as in summer time.

We would go to my favorite brewery Verboten on the first night. The next day we would go white water rafting, then eat at a local restaurant in Fort Collins. The day after we would visit Sweetheart Winery for some local wine and good conversation. After wine we would go axe throwing to end the day. Our next day would be a hike up Horsetooth with potential to jump in the lake. It all depends on which friend/family member is coming!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d say the book that really shifted how I thought about the world was “Rich Dad, Poor Dad.”
