Meet Fiona Quiban | Food Blogger/Influencer & Master’s of Public Health Candidate in Global Health – Epidemiology

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fiona Quiban and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fiona, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is from my grandma, who always encouraged us to “eat some more.” This saying holds a special place in my heart because it symbolizes the power of food in bringing families together. When I visit my grandma in Hawaii, she showers us with delicious Filipino dishes like pinakbet and chicken tinolang manok, creating unforgettable moments around the dining table.
Food has a unique ability to strengthen family bonds, nurture friendships, and enhance relationships. It’s not just about satisfying hunger; it’s about creating shared experiences and lasting memories. When I started my food blog on Instagram, it stemmed from friends asking for recommendations, and I saw an opportunity to showcase not just the dishes but the joy and connection they bring.
Through my food blog, I want to guide others to my favorite spots, not just for the incredible flavors but for the communal atmosphere. ‘Eat some more’ isn’t just about indulging in delicious meals; it invites sharing moments of joy, laughter, and connection. It’s a reminder that the simple act of enjoying a good meal can be a catalyst for bringing friends and family together, creating a sense of warmth and fulfillment. So, my favorite quote reflects the belief that food is a powerful force that unites us, making every shared meal an opportunity to ‘eat some more’ and savor the richness of life.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am a passionate food blogger and influencer, sharing my food adventures on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. My journey began on my personal Instagram account, where friends frequently asked for restaurant recommendations and reviews of my dining experiences. Inspired by this, I asked my best friend about creating an Instagram page for restaurant reviews. Encouraged by her advice, I launched my food Instagram page, bonappetitmysweet, just days before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Navigating the challenges posed by the pandemic, I adapted by creating content featuring takeout options and adhering to COVID-19 safety practices. As COVID-19 eased in 2021, I explored a lot of restaurants across Colorado and beyond, including Hawaii, sharing comprehensive reviews. Through these food journeys, I connected with an incredible community of fellow foodies, both locally and internationally.
The joy of forming meaningful connections with fellow foodies fueled my passion for food exploration. I found happiness in understanding the diverse food cultures in different places, broadening my palate with various dishes. Trying new foods became more than a personal interest; it became a way to bring people together.
The positive impact of my food reviews led to collaborations with restaurants, media agencies, and food events. This increased my excitement for content creation and trying new things.
Ultimately, I want the world to know that my food account genuinely expresses my love for culinary experiences. It has become a platform that brings friends and family closer and fosters connections with a broader community of foodies. By showcasing the diverse array of foods I try, I aim to inspire others to “eat some more” and embrace the joy of sharing meals and creating lasting connections.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d craft a week-long adventure full of flavor and fun in Aurora and Denver. The first stop is the vibrant food and karaoke scene in Aurora! Old Town Hot Pot would be the first stop to visit. Old Town Hot Pot is my top pick for an all-you-can-eat hotpot experience. Broths, meats, veggies, and noodles—take your pick! Next, Seoul Korean BBQ, Sushi, and Hot Pot for top-notch meat quality and an array of Korean side dishes. Then, we would visit U&I BBQ Karaoke Bar for Chinese delights and private karaoke rooms to spend the rest of the night.
Venturing into Denver, we will visit Milk Tea People for various tea-based delights. The city’s buzzing with events, especially during holidays—think Christmas & Halloween bar pop-ups and food extravaganzas. Summer calls for festivals like Top Taco Fest, Chicken Fight Fest, and Denver Brunch Fest. For an after-event delight, it’s birria tacos at Kikes Red Tacos or pho at Now Pho.
Satisfying our sweet tooth, Flip N’ Boba serves up Filipino-inspired desserts, while Little Man Ice Cream in LoHi boasts flavors like salted Oreo. Exploring food markets like Avanti and Denver Central Market adds a local touch. And who could resist mini golf with friends for a dose of fun?
From the eclectic food spots to exciting events and unique activities, this itinerary guarantees the best time ever in the Denver and Aurora area. It’s a flavorful feast for the senses and a journey through the heart of these vibrant cities!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my best friend, Oniza. Oniza is the driving force behind the creation of my food blog, and I owe a significant part of its success to her support and advice.
Oniza was the first person I turned to when contemplating starting my food blog. Her encouragement and guidance played an important role in creating my food blog. Even the name “bonappetitmysweet” was her idea for my account name.
This shoutout is not just a token of appreciation; it’s a recognition of the pivotal role Oniza has played in shaping my path. Her support extends beyond mere words—a constant source of inspiration helped me forward in continuing my food blog. From brainstorming ideas to being a cheerleader during triumphs and challenges, Oniza has been an integral part of my food blogging adventure.
Thank you, Oniza, for being there for me and supporting my account. Your friendship and support have added an extra layer of sweetness to my food journey, and I am genuinely grateful to have you by my side. Cheers to the friend who believed in me and helped me carve a deliciously fulfilling path in food blogging.
