We had the good fortune of connecting with Francisco Estevez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Francisco, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been interested in photography. I grew up with a family of artists and intellectuals that appreciated the arts and I was exposed to a variety of mediums from a young age. Photography was always a passion of mine alongside ballet. I have danced for the majority of my life and done so professionally for over 12 years now. I am now a principal dancer with the Colorado Ballet. My starting a photography business that focused on dance and movement was a combination of these two life long artistic passions.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The success in my art forms are very much related. To start, my journey as a ballet dancer that has allowed me to experience the world and meet diverse people and visit diverse places. Beyond the experience of traveling through my dance career, the training that went into my dancing has shaped the way that I approach any goal. The success of my photography career is a product of the dedication, discipline and motivation that I learned from my training as a dancer. What I am most proud of in my success as a photographer and a dancer is how I got to that success. Hard work and focus is necessary for anyone with a will to achieve. I always do everything within my control to achieve what I set my mind to. If I have done that, I have done everything within my power to succeed. It is this perspective that I am most proud of and the reason for why I am am where I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Under normal circumstances, I would take them to the performing arts complex to see a show or performance. Unfortunately that can’t happen right now due to the pandemic but in the future that would be one of my go to places to take someone! I also believe that Denver is rich with great restaurants and some of my favorites are Rioja, True Food, and Hapa Sushi. Beyond activities in Denver, I think it’s important that anyone who comes here and visit the mountains even if they only go as far as Idaho Springs. There is much natural beauty to be seen in the state and even a small hike can show you that!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The people that deserve shout outs for my success are my family. My parents have always supported my artistic passions and encouraged me to follow them. In my adult life, my wife has been a pillar of love and support both in my professional dance career as well as my photography career. My family is the foundation for my success and I owe them a lot of gratitude for where I am.
