We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Tedesco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frank, how do you think about risk?
To me, taking risks is, among many things, a way to gain authentic self-confidence. I think of confidence as your degree of faith in yourself to deal with unknown circumstances, therefore it can be extremely beneficial to view risk taking as opportunity and to march towards it instead of shying away out of fear of the unknown. It’s the repetitive action of putting yourself in risky or unknown situations and persevering that will earn you the type of self-confidence to fear very little in life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I talk to strangers from around the world and ask them to give me their favorite song. I listen to the song one time on my phone and try to instantly recreate it on the piano for them. It’s incredibly rewarding for me for many reasons. I really love seeing people’s faces light up when they hear their favorite song, partially because they might have a special connection to that particular music for a reason that I have no idea about and never will. Music is cool like that; it has the power to quickly recall memories and the emotions attached to those memories. I also love the spontaneity of chatting with strangers and enjoy being in an environment where I can be quick on my feet.

Overall, my mission is to put authentic positivity out into the world. There is SO much negativity in the online space, and I’m trying my best to fight against that. I’d really like people to understand that making a single person smile or laugh literally changes the world. The power of a positive ripple effect is unfathomable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Every time a friend visits me I take them to Urban Egg in Colorado Springs. The steak and eggs there are so good it’s temping for me to stop typing now and go get some. There’s also an INCREDIBLE Thai place call Aroi. If you’re into bars, check out Shame & Regret.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be who I am or where I am without the incredible support of my family, friends, colleagues, and various music teachers throughout the years.
