We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Stoll and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriel, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“If you do today what others wont, you will do tomorrow what others cant”
I remind myself every day that though a project may be challenging, I am progressing in my craft, and in order to be successful, I must take action by doing things that others won’t think of doing today and master the skills while others are just learning them.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Starting out as a creator isn’t very glamours. I was working a landscaping job while I was trying to find video clients while also filming free videos and free photo shoots to have some sort of portfolio. One question I asked myself that kept me moving forward to my goal of being a full-time Filmmaker and Photographer is, “When you look back ten years from now, will you regret the chances you didn’t take?” So I took a chance! I went full-time filming weddings and picking up random photoshoot opportunities.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in a small town in Tennessee, and one of my favorite places to visit is this small hillside field overlooking the river valley. I’ve spent many hours there thinking about life and praying! I’m always outdoors, and if I’m not in front of my laptop, you can usually find me either out in the woods or by the river.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
During my final year of high school, I was lost in what I wanted to pursue as a career. I thought about just getting a normal job like many of my friends had, but my dad encouraged me to “Do what you love.” We spent countless hours discussing what I loved doing and how I could make a career out of it. Through it all, we landed on Filmmaking and Photography. I had always loved taking photos of birds around our house and making fun movies with my brothers. Once I realized not only can I make a living doing it, but I could make a difference with the content I make
