We had the good fortune of connecting with Gavin Stebbins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gavin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I have really prioritized showing up authentically as my self in my business in the past 6 months and have seen tremendous growth since then! Showing my possible clients a real, true person is living behind the business is something that I can absolutely thank for my growth.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being one of the youngest members of the wedding photography industry here in Colorado has really set me apart and forced me to work harder to prove my self. I spent a lot of time while in high school working on my art, taking “independent studies” instead of regular electives to take time to learn things like SEO, social media marketing, and copy writing to improve my online presence and branding. When facing challenges, which there were many, I turned to business mentors and others who have been in this business a long time for advice and encouragement. The main lesson I’ve learned is that owning a business is like playing the long game. There will be ups and downs, and you have to apply the same hard work and dedication no matter what stage your business is in. The main thing I would want the world to know is that I’m here taking photos to give people memories that they can cherish forever. Photography is a timeless profession and there will constantly be a need for it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would absolutely take them into Denver. I have had a deep love for Larimar Square, and all the shops and restaurants for years now. An absolute necessity would be to stop by Garage Sale Vintage, an amazing vintage store/bar. We would also have to visit the Blue Agave Grill on 16th street for shrimp tacos and a Tunarita.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My go-to photography buddies, Emily Beltran and Leah Van Note! The two girls who I know I can always turn to for support, advice, and constructive criticism.
