We had the good fortune of connecting with Genesis Billinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genesis, how do you think about risk?
My whole career as a makeup artist has been a leap of faith from the very beginning. While working for the Atlanta Falcons, a role I truly cherished, I felt a deep calling to pursue something more aligned with my purpose. I handed in my two-week notice with no clients on the horizon, trusting in God’s plan and the talent He’d blessed me with, even though I’d never pushed myself into the spotlight.

Two years later, I took another huge risk by launching a thriving makeup studio in Atlanta. With minimal savings and a heart full of faith, I built something beautiful from the ground up, proving that sometimes the boldest moves lead to divine rewards.

The biggest risk, however, was completely uprooting that successful business to move to Colorado leaving behind family, familiar connections, and comfort with nothing but my brushes and a leap of faith. Each risk has not only shaped my career but has also deepened my reliance on God’s guidance, teaching me that embracing uncertainty can lead to extraordinary miracles.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love to consider myself a soft glam guru. For me, enhancing a woman’s natural features and elevating her look while allowing her to feel like herself is the most rewarding art. What sets me apart is my dedication to authenticity and a faith-filled approach to beauty. Every brushstroke is a celebration of individuality, and I take pride in creating looks that empower women.

I’m most proud of my bold move to Colorado—a true leap of faith that feels like a power move. Sure, I’ve had my share of “OMG, is this happening?” moments—working with HGTV, having my work featured in the LA TIMES, and collaborating with renowned names—but moving to Colorado has been a defining chapter. I truly believe the Colorado makeup market has been waiting for an artist who not only serves women of all nationalities but also specializes in makeup artistry for deeper skin tones.

My journey to this point has been paved solely by God’s grace and favor. Once I realized that favor could open doors in ways that market strategies and networking never could, everything changed. I learned to pray over my business, and my mind has been blown by the opportunities that have simply been placed in my lap.

The entrepreneurial ride isn’t easy—long nights, sacrifices, constant adjustments, and significant financial investment are all part of the process. Yet, on the other side of yielding to the process come incredible rewards.

If I could share one thing with the world, it’s this: let your desire to see God’s faithfulness in your business or any venture override your fear. You were made to launch out, for such a time as now.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Welcome to the Ultimate Colorado Springs Experience—G Gallerie Style!

Listen, I’ve been booked and busy, but the few times I’ve made it out? 10/10, no notes. If my best friend was visiting, I’d have to make sure they got the full experience—good food, stunning views, great vibes, and of course, a little soul-refreshing before they head back home.

Day 1: Brunch & Settling In

First things first—brunch. And not just any brunch, we’re going straight to Urban Egg (downtown location, of course). The amount of times I eat here weekly is borderline embarrassing, but when the food is that good, can you really blame me? You have to try the breakfast burrito or the cinnamon swirl pancakes—trust me.

Day 2: Classic Colorado Views

I know, I know—every local is rolling their eyes, but we have to hit up Garden of the Gods. As a girl from Atlanta, where our biggest attraction is Stone Mountain, this place is on another level. The views, the red rocks, the beginner-friendly hiking trails—pure magic. If you don’t leave with at least one Instagram-worthy picture, did you even go?

Day 3: A Taste of Home

Coming from a big city, I’m used to having endless lounge and brunch options, so finding that here was a must. Luchal’s in Fountain is the spot—good food, good vibes, and themed nights that remind me of home. Whether it’s R&B night, karaoke, or just a chill evening, this place never disappoints.

Day 4: Retail Therapy & Coffee Runs

What’s a trip without some shopping? We’re heading to The Promenade Shops at Briargate for cute boutiques, fresh finds, and a little retail therapy. After that, a stop at Loyal Coffee is a must—because caffeine is non-negotiable.

Day 5: A Scenic Adventure

If you really want to soak in the beauty of Colorado, we’re taking the Pikes Peak Cog Railway in Manitou Springs. This train ride up to the summit of Pikes Peak is nothing short of breathtaking. It’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, with some of the most stunning views you’ll ever see. Plus, Manitou Springs itself is a vibe—cute shops, mountain air, and just the right amount of small-town charm.

Day 6: A Soul Reset

Now, you already know I’m a Christian girly, so Sunday means Zeal Church at The Citadel. When I say you will NOT leave the same way you came—whew. The worship, the word, the community? Simply amazing. The perfect way to recharge and reflect before heading back home.

By the time my bestie leaves, they’ll be full, refreshed, and ready to start planning their next visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
From the very beginning, I’ve learned that no journey is made alone. I owe the success of my business to God first and foremost. His strategy is far greater than any market plan I could ever devise. Every milestone I’ve reached has been guided by His grace.

I also want to give a heartfelt shoutout to all of my clients over these amazing four years. You are the backbone of my journey. Your unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in me have lifted me during times when the weight of responsibility felt overwhelming.

I must also acknowledge the unmatched support of my family and friends. They’ve always seen something special in me and never fail to remind me of my worth. A special shoutout goes to my mom, who has spoken life into my business time and again. It’s a blessing to have someone push you especially when they’ve witnessed both your failures and your wins. Her sacrifices of time, money, and prayers have been pivotal in my pursuit of excellence.

I am profoundly grateful for every single person who has stood by my side and helped make my dreams a reality.
