We had the good fortune of connecting with Grant Thomas and Maia Warner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Grant and Maia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think our dynamic has been the secret to our success so far. One of our favorite compliments is when people share that they feel like they are on a phone call with us. Or that it sounds like two of their friends are over and you’re all just having a conversation. We both genuinely really like each other. And the longer we make the “Well, I Laughed” podcast, the more we seem to enjoy each other.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When we first started making the podcast we had no idea what we were doing. A big part of the success was the trust we had in each other and the time we were willing to take to get it right. We had several episodes recorded before we first published. We even re-recorded our first two episodes after some technical difficulties that were a part of the learning curve.
We are both really proud of the podcast and the product we put out today. We want the listening and viewing experience to be highly enjoyable both because of what we say and the quality of the audio and video.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Is any trip to Denver complete without a visit to Casa Bonita? Otherwise its coffee at Hudson Hill or Covus, cocktails at Dewdrop Inn or ESP HiFi. Dinner at Mister Oso. If we have the time you also have to checkout the rooftop of the Museum of Contemporary Art and hopefully one night ends with a late night snack from Gyroz Drive thru on Colfax.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people! Jacob and Lydia Bohac who have been early supporters and hosted our live show. Kelsi Streich and Edgar Crockett who have also been some of our earliest supporters and hosted us for our Christmas episode. And Alexandra Demopoulos who is responsible for many of our best looking photos.
