We had the good fortune of connecting with Haley Jensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haley, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up, my mom always thought of, and pursued different business ideas. So when I decided to explore the notion of starting my own business, it was her influence and drive the showed me the possibilities. From there, I found something that I’m passionate about, that allows me to explore my creativity in a way that also celebrates and documents people, love, and relationships.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I’m photographing a wedding day, I want to capture the emotions, the feelings, the experience of the day. While of course, I do posed photos throughout the day, my focus beyond those shots is to capture how this truly exciting day feels, so that when my couples look back on their wedding gallery in 10 years, they can remember how all those special moments throughout their day felt. Beyond that, I am working to enhance my entire client experience so that I can not only deliver my clients timeless images, but also the best experience from start to finish when booking with me.
Getting into the wedding industry I found that getting the initial experience was challenging at times since, understandably, people prefer a photographer with at least a few weddings under their belt. But once I was able to get my feet wet, and build my portfolio, I began dedicating more of my time to building my business. I have found that the best way for me to build my clientele is through word of mouth, which has changed the way that I operate my business, and has pushed me to elevate my client experience.
I want the world to know that my goal when photographing is to capture you as you are, because all that you are is worth celebrating and documenting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Colorado has so much to offer! I myself am a bit of an outdoor girly- so we would definitely be doing multiple hikes in RMNP, Breck, and Golden. Definitely have to make some restatuarent stops: City O City, Blue Sushi, Voodoo Doughnuts.
Some other necessary stops would be The Plant Garage (for plant shopping), Cheeseman Park, The Contemporary Art Museum, Nature & Science Museum.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom truly is the greatest support system in the world. She cheers me on no matter what and without her I would not be where I am today.
