We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Ha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Creating a community based culture is definitely the success behind our business. We genuinely care about the well-being of both our clients and our employees. It shows and people appreciate it. The atmosphere in the salon is welcoming and kind. It creates an environment that people want to come back to over and over again. We are so happy that we have a successful business that everyone loves to support and continue supporting.
What should our readers know about your business?
Opening up a business is no walk in the park. You have to deal with things so many issues from city permitting to contractors to landlords ect. There’s so much involved that you cannot even imagine until you do it. There’s lots of emotions (good and bad), stress and work. In order to overcome challenges, you have to be dedicated at all times. You must never give up, even when you think you just can’t go on anymore. Having a good support system also helps. My family and friends supported me whenever possible. Any time I would ask for help, they were there. They were kind even when I was tough to deal with. I cried, a lot. I was angry, a lot during the pre opening process. They were there every step of the way. During that time, I learned that sometimes you have to be stern and confrontational. If you’re too kind, people won’t take you seriously and they will walk all over you. That was the hardest part for me but when a person is under enough stress and anxiety they will muster up the courage to speak up. It made me a stronger person. A good business comes from the heart. It’s about creating something you are proud of. Our salon creates an environment where every one can feel comfortable and cared for all the time. We love our people and our community!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many cool things you can do in Colorado! I would start off with a great brunch place, my favorite is One Fold. They have the best duck congee there! Then probably off on a killer hike. I personally enjoy the manitou incline. It’s a tough one but it’s so worth it. And you feel so accomplished when you reach the top. There are lots of great dinner places. I recently discover Greenwich, it’s amazing. I’ve also been going to a Fruition recently, that place is delish and has great service! Lots of fun bars and brewers all around Denver. There’s a Meowwolf here now so I’d def take them there too. We also have tons of sport activities you can partake in. Whether you want to go watch a Nuggets game or go climb a rock wall. You name it, we probably have it. Then I’d take them to go relax and enjoy a mani/pedi at our salon, Manicured. Great way to end the week.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandma. She’s not around any more but she always taught us to be kind and caring. She was courageous and strong, yet gentle. She escaped to America with her five young children after her husband was assassinated during the Vietnam war. She raised all of her children and grandchildren to be amazing people. Without her, I would not be the person I am today.
