We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Hoffmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

When I was 13 I started a photography “business” in my small hometown. I charged 50 dollars a session and put their gallery on a CD!

So, I think from a very young age I knew, and probably everyone around me knew that I would eventually own my own business or be the “boss” of something.

I studied Public Relations and Communications in college, with the intention of working with nonprofits, and I did just that!

After doing that for about a year, I was asked to be a social media assistant for a fashion photographer in Texas!

Before I knew it, this was the start of Sunny Social.

I used this first “client” to experiment with having multiple accounts to run, multiple clients, etc. and I absolutely LOVED it.

So, in October of 2021, I launched Sunny Social on a complete whim!

I am a chronic perfectionist so I knew if I didn’t do it then I never would.

So, my thought process? Well, there wasn’t much of one and for me, that is saying a lot. I believe this “path” was always meant to be mine and I finally got out of my own way and made it happen!

I think what I was really looking for was a space where I could be creative, where I could have freedom, and where I could work with clients who inspire me!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I work in social media. I know there is a lot of stigma and misunderstanding for many on how I can even have a full-time job, as many would say, “by just being on your phone all day”

But, the truth is, that social media has the power to completely transform a business/person’s life.

It’s not just a “silly” app, it’s a space for creators, dreamers, and makers alike to share their work with the world.

I have experienced this firsthand with my own business.

The power of social media has opened up so many opportunities that I would have NEVER gotten otherwise. I’ve also experienced this with my clients!

This is my why, it’s not about numbers or follower count. It’s about empowering small business owners with the knowledge they need to grow online which in turn means growing in their business.

I am excited about the future, I have spent the last few months preparing and scaling back in a healthy way that allows me to focus on clients and projects that excite me!

I guess I am as equally proud of this as well. To even be in the position where I am no longer looking to others to define my success, but to come back to who I am and what I want for my business.

How’d I get to where I am? Oof. A lot of trial and error, a lot of figuring it out as I go, a lot of imposter syndrome, a lot of stress, a lot of excitement, a lot of tears, more excitement, more tears…you get the idea.

Starting a business is HARD. It’s a lot of long hours, a lot of learning, and not a lot of sleep. It’s not easy, but I can say with confidence that it’s totally worth it.

Despite the challenges, I think what got me to where I am was committing to myself first – promising myself that I’m going to give this my all.

That I’m going to be consistent, and reliable and that I am going to show up for myself and for my clients with my absolute best.

No, my “best” was not always the same. Sometimes, my best looks like taking off a week from social media, and that is okay. I am learning that rest and boundaries are the only ways to grow a business in a sustainable way.

I want the world to know that if you want to start a business, a social media account, whatever it is, you can absolutely do it. I know for many insecurities, anxiety, and fear of what others will think stops them from starting.

These are the people I am passionate about helping, because I was that person and I somehow managed to do it, so take this as a sign to start – you’ve got this.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week-long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

This is hilarious because I have all my friends visiting this weekend I created the cutest itinerary! So, a few things I am planning and would plan!

A morning hike, followed by a morning swim at Horsetooth Reservoir.

Brunch at Ginger and Baker, then shopping around the local shops in Old Town, specifically Sunday Supply Co., Ivy Boutique, and a few other cute shops down there!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My husband, Stephen! He has never doubted me! He is there to give me a boost when imposter syndrome kicks in and he’s there when I’m having technical difficulties or overthinking every email. I couldn’t do it without his continual support and love!

I also would love to shout out my very first client, Kaylee! She has been with me before Sunny Social was even a thing and she has stuck by my side, singing my praises to everyone she can. She inspires me daily and I will be forever grateful to her for opening this door for me!

Then, I would take them to Denver to go to Meow Wolf.
