We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is one of the hardest things humans can do, it goes against all of our instincts of survival. There was a day when I needed to take risks though and I have never looked back.

I started as a full-time Social Media Manager for an Author and although the work I enjoyed very much, I had to quit to further my own career as a Social Media Marketing Manager for Authors. I have a family so quitting and ending that income in hopes all my hard work would pay off had me feeling so many emotions, it was hard to sleep!

I think us business owners are always taking new risks, financially, mentally, and physically… it’s part of our growth system. If it doesn’t end up the way we hope at least we have a lesson out of it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a full time Social Media Marketing Manager for Authors. I promote my clients books, take on their personal social medias, and create marketing content for them that quite often goes viral. I help them get seen by a wide audience and assist them in growing their fan base.

This opportunity fell in my lap honestly. I was asked to become a full time Social Media Manager by an Author and although I enjoyed the work, it was time consuming working as a full time employee with a base pay. Leaving me little time to grow my business I was hopeful of.

Showcasing what I was able to do for Authors on social media for organic growth really opened up opportunities for my business. I went from $0- to a 6 figure business in less than 10 months.

I work everyday as a business owner, I do not work less than 4 hours a day. Some days I work 16 hours if I know I am going to be busy the next few days. I’m trying to build an empire of my own and that takes a lot of hard work, sacrifices, and dedication.

Now with 2 amazing employees helping me run my business, living life and enjoying it with my 2 little boys and my husband is the next chapter in my life. I’m able to continue to build an empire while living my life where and when I please because I worked so hard for this change in my families lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here we come Tampa Florida!!

Florida, personally I am in love with the Florida ocean!
– I am a laid back person who enjoys going with the flow.

Let’s start off with our hotel, nothing but beach side for us. We get to our hotel after the Uber drops us off, we walk into our room and oh would you take a look at that ocean view room! Oh la la! Then oh wait, there is a note and champagne waiting for us on the bed? What a wonderful way to start our trip off! As we toast to the first day there we take ourselves to the ocean for a bit of relaxation because as you know… the plane ride was probably exhausting.

Spending the rest of the day there, and walking the pier we easily settle for the grill that has the best margaritas in town poster up.

After we chow down, we’re exhausted from the sun, plane ride, and full bellies.
Off to our room we go to get our shower and skin care down for the night to awake the next day with a busy day…

Waking up early to head out to breakfast, we grab ourselves a coffee to go, then another coffee while we sit to eat. We have a big day planned!

After eating a fruit salad, with a side of pancakes we decide to burn some calories and walk along the pier to do some shopping.

Finding fun and unique things along the way, we whip out our tripod and set up our phones to get some recording done for memories.

Shopping took a lot out of us, it’s time to head to lunch… and we found the perfect spot! “Best Crab legs in town!” And although I am a vegetarian, we go for my bestie… she’s so excited!

Feeling those full bellies has us thinking it’s time to relax on the ocean side again, as we get out the sunscreen we prepare to take on the sun for another few hours… a nap will occur now.

Here comes the evening, we start to head off to the hotel again, we’re going to have a champagne toast and get ready for the evening!

Red lips, curls in hair, and our cutest little two piece outfits… we are ready to see what night life is like in the pier!

As we take each day as it comes, even on vacation, we know we will always have fun…

Playing night beach volleyball, crashing a wedding on the beach, to celebrating the random people who sat next to us engagement… we have ourselves a wonderful time meeting new friends and capturing new memories.

As this trip was a short lived trip, it carried so many new and fun memories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Giving credit where credit is due:

First, my Husband took some time off work in order to help me start this career and take it on head first. From being a full time dad to ensuring I remember to eat each day. He is my rock, having his support and faith are the most important pieces to my success.

Second, I had a business mentor named Ashley Ice. She mentored me for years. I was not busy savvy until she took me under her wing and spilled the business secrets. She is also my sister, so she did not hold back on anything I needed to know to be successful!

Third, I had a mentor named Abigail. Whatever she was teaching, I invested in. Even if it had nothing to do with my niche, I knew nothing but gold would be in there that would help me along my Social Media Managing journey.

Fourth, my amazing VA’s Kennedy and Jessica. It would not at all be possible for me to grow my business so fast without their knowledge and help! There is simply not enough time in the day. With their creativity and dedication to helping me, I am able to grow the business of my dreams!

Lastly, my parents. My dad has been an entrepreneur my whole life growing up. Teaching my sister and I to be our own boss and take our own lives in our own hands. He supports me along the way by asking questions about my business and sharing literally all my post on Facebook.

And my mom, she quit her job to be a full time nanny for my two boys. Without her help, this would not be possible or easy at least. From early mornings, sick days, to busy schedules… she is always there whenever we need her. No questions asked. The love a mother gives to her family is unmatchable.
Having someone I trust fully to help raise my boys to be strong, loving, gentlemen makes saying “see you later!” each day a little bit easier. They just adore her.
