We had the good fortune of connecting with Heloisa Helena Carreira Vilas Boas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heloisa Helena, what inspires you?
I am inspired by nature, music, art and sacred power plants.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my graphic designer journey in 2014 when my daughter was born extremely premature and me and my husband was very scared of the situation and had to go trough a lot of difficulties and uncertainties. We had to move from São Paulo city where I was born to a back country city where my husband was born in order to live in a smaller city and easier to take care of a just born premature baby.

So we had to find a way to work from home and spend all of our time taking care of our little girl.
And it was when my husband who was just graduate from multimedia university and had a little knowledge about creating logos and identity.

So we joined a Brazilian design platform and started to work there and after re-searching we found out about 99designs and I told my husband that we should try to work on this platform to earn in USD dollars.

I helped him to translate the briefings and it was when we started a brilliant career in this Aussie platform. After a couple of years of just helping him with English translations I decided to go to study Graphic Design and to bring all my ideas to life, I finally learned to develop a logo, brand identities, packaging and clothing design. It was a natural development, it feels like I have finally found my passion job after traveling/living around the world for 10 years learning new languages and working with hospitality.

Today I am a TOP Level designer at 99designs and I work full time as a freelancer designer.

The lessons I learned along the way was that we should never stop learning and we must to find a thing that we LOVE to do in life. This is the recipe for making money and being happy! When we do what we love, the money is just a compensation for your LOVE spread.

For me every design I make is like a baby, born out of LOVE and desire.

Now me and my family moved to a bigger city called Ribeirão Preto and we live in a farm planting organics and living in nature. We just built a house for us and it’s our dream home.
Here I work with my husband in many projects not only with graphic design but recording music in ou music studio and planting medicinal herbs and our own organic food.

Nature is everything, it have everything we need to live and to be healthy. I love to study about nature and all your magic.

We also consecrate Ayahuasca in a Santo Daime church. Which helps us to live a harmonic and balanced life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Ribeirão Preto City, here I would take my friends to eat good food, do an Ayahuasca session and to be in the farm, learn Agrofloresta, syntropic agriculture.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout series first to my family, my husband and daughter. Because of them that I started the graphic designer career and I couldn’t find enough words to express my love and gratitude for they. Today I couldn’t Imagine my life without designing everyday and I could say that I completely LOVE what I do and I want to learn about arts and graphic design more and more everyday.
