We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Kempkes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Holly, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been a person who enjoys the arts. As an artist myself, I find myself looking for the “fresh” look, or a different perspective on the everyday. Creating something that is meaningful, unique and can help someone feel something is the ultimate goal to success. I find comfort in viewing and experiencing art, I hope others do as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting at a young age, I always found peace in enjoying art of almost any form. In a world of artists i am always trying to find a way to stand out amongst the group and I think that my eye for beauty in every day things helps me do that. Unique angles, poses, scenery, designs, and editing helps separate me from most and has led me to my current life. Working as a floral designer for 18 years and a floral instructor for the past 4 years, has also helped me to appreciate all styles of design, and I think that reflects in my photography.
When I decided to start my business, it was because people were pushing me to sell prints of my work, they believed in me which in turn helped me to believe in myself more.
I have accomplished a lot (in my opinion) in the short time since I started a business, and I would like to think I can continue to grow and build a name for myself.
It hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies, and I’ve definitely had my challenges, including a life changing injury; though I would like to think that it has just helped me learn to keep pushing and keep thriving.
If there was one thing I would like the world to know about me and my brand, is that I am giving, aware and constantly trying to create content that will help them see that our beautiful planet has so much to offer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ohhh I’m not sure I could choose! Local eateries, galleries, outdoor venues both big and small. I want people to feel like this could be their home, to feel welcomed and to experience small businesses and the beauty they hold. If ever in doubt, mom and pop places are the best, I will say that.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a special thanks to my parents, my brother and his family. They have always been supportive, and are always pushing me to be a better version of myself. Without the constant love and support, I’m not sure I would be where I am today. I would also like to give thanks to my fellow artists, whether I’ve met them or not. They inspire me to be a better artist and to be creative with my content.
