We had the good fortune of connecting with Indigo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Indigo, how does your business help the community?
Music is a force that affects everyone and something that transcends the human experience. Many creatures on Earth can be moved by music, regardless of race, species, language, or geographic disposition. Standing on the shoulders of the sonic forgers that came before us, we focus on channeling our original creative contributions as they manifest through our unique combination, now referred to as Indigo. Original creativity, we all believe, is something the world desperately needs. In an era where so many of us are being influenced by those around us, each other, social media, and the powers that be, we need people to be themselves and dance to their own rhythm. We all have had our lives quite literally saved by music at one point or another. Music has a unique ability to take a mood or emotion and transform the worst, most painful experiences into a joyful, warm blanket that wraps around you and holds you. It can take a beautiful experience and solidify it in your being in a way that can transport you through time and space, even when you are no longer in that moment. Though one person or a group of people may be the original vessel in which the creative forces move through to bring forth a particular song or album or collection of sounds, it can resonate so succinctly with a person or group of individuals, the artistry can take on it’s own meaning as if it were crafted just for them. Music is a gift and has a life of its own, and it’s incredible how one song can impact the entire world. We hope that through our art we bring joy, love, peace, light, and people feel seen and understood when they listen to our music – we love the freaks, the weirdos, the special pieces of humanity that can only be found within YOU.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We felt called to invent a term to describe our genre that we had not previously known, we refer to our music as Alternative Atmospheric Indie. We felt a strong pull to do this because we feel that our music shouldn’t be placed alongside or within the boundaries of indie, pop, rock, or typical alternative music. We hope our music to evoke sultry, saturated, saucy emotions that make your consciousness bubble, boil, and bombastically move you through a sonic journey that both feels familiar and alien at the same time.

This music has been coming for a long time through the spiritual connection of friendship and love that began over a decade ago. Kaylee and Connor moved to Colorado almost two years ago and began developing the foundational music that Indigo would inevitably spawn from. With Connor’s atmospheric Hendrix/Frusciante/Parker inspired guitar feel and Kaylee’s deep, eclectic, angelic, ethereal vocals and ability to modulate from hip hop influenced runs to big pop explosively powerful harmonious gallops leave us in a category of our own and the bedrock for the evolution of where Indigo’s music will go.

After two years of crafting together the fibers and DNA of Indigo, there were still some missing pieces. The most essential of which was the unique genius, leadership, experience, and organizational ability that Nate brings to the table. As a long-time friend and collaborator, after seeing what was developed by Kaylee and Con, Nate was moved (quite literally 1700 miles) overnight from Maryland to join them under one roof in the mountains of Colorado to bring this music to life under the project now known as Indigo. We collectively take deep pride in the music that set the foundation for the project, the first album, “Future Something” that Kaylee and Con wrote together, mixed and mastered all in house, as well as the immediate push to play shows once Nate arrived, including the Fox Theatre in Boulder as they make their debut push around NoCo. We are all incredibly excited about beginning our journey with almost three hours of original music and the albums that will follow, as well as sharing with the fans and the overwhelmingly warm reception we’ve had right out of the gate.

The sacrifices that must be made by artists and the teams behind, are never an easy ask, and it certainly comes with challenges. Especially when dedicated passion evolves beyond being a hobby and becomes a life pursuit. We are students of life, and we learn more every day. The music industry as a whole has been gripped by evil, greed, and men who want to dominate the art and expl*it it for money and power. As indie artists, one of the toughest pills to swallow is that every single place you play only truly cares about ticket sales and not putting on talent. Having huge conglomerates come in and buy land, rights, and influence the local music politics has been a David and Goliath story for many bands as they heroically try to break into the scene.

We want the world to know that you should never give up on your passions and what moves you. Music and art are so desperately essential to the evolution of humans on this planet, and supporting local art is an immense part of this. We are going to continue to swim against the current of darkness that makes it so difficult for new artists, without immense financial support, and we won’t ever stop doing what we love: creating music for us and the people we love.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As we are all East Coast transplants, we are still getting familiar with the area and learning new things about Colorado with each passing day. That said, some of our favorite local spots in Denver, that we’ve had the privilege of experiencing would be:

Scooting around City Park.
Visiting the Nature and Science Museum.
Experiencing Meow Wolf.
Catching live music at Larimer Lounge, Mission Ballroom, Red Rocks,
Specifically, seeing the Colorado Symphony at Boettcher Concert Hall is a blast!
Hiking Mount Falcon Park, as well as several others, where you’ll get to see sights and wildlife that you just don’t get on the EC.
Checking out the plethora of speakeasies, all with their own personalities, including William & Graham and the Cruise Room.
Grabbing a bite at Illegal Pete’s after a show at the Lion’s Lair.

Just to name a few of our personal favorites.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to, of course, shout out all of our families, friends, and fans who have held us and supported us through the years as we’ve all developed our musicianship. Specifically, we would like to aim our focus of this shoutout at the group where this iteration of our creativity began, our own independent label known as “Redhaven Collective”. We all started this collection of artistry over a decade ago on the East Coast, with the greatest friends we could have ever asked for, and it would be the push to take music as seriously as breathing as we journey through our lives.
