We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaro Lina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaro, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
when I’m in a position asking myself whether to give up or keep going; I always look back at where I began, of how far I’ve come I look at my present position and think of where I want to be in the future. I believe it is important to make that decision depending on what I want for myself and know I deserve.

Winston Churchill once said “if you are going through hell, keep going coz why would you want to stop in hell” if I am not where I want to be then I shall not give up, if I this is truly what I want, then there is no giving up. However, if I realize that what I want is no longer in alignment with me, it is wise to recognize and tell myself that it is ok to no longer want what I once thought wanted so much. when I feel drained, that there is nothing left to give, emotionally or physically then I know exactly what to do. Give up.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always been an artist at heart. I say so because I am interested in all forms of art, whether it is drawing, painting, crafting, dancing. modelling, writing, acting etc. you name it. I have always known deep down that I was meant to make art and be art, therefore I told myself that I had to start somewhere. In 2015, I migrated to the USA, officially started modelling in the 2019, with no experience, wasn’t sure modelling was right for me until I stepped on the runway and walked my very first walk. I felt like Belonged on that stage. Modelling became my escape from the unhappy home where I lived, since then I have learned a lot and continue to learn.

I know that I’m not the kind of person to stick to only one career for the rest of my life. so, there are lot of things I want to accomplish, one of them is to become an actress more specifically a telenovela actress, however, I am also not against Hollywood. Would also love to do that. I would love to tell stories through my art

I believe that what sets me apart from others is my determination and persistence. life isn’t easy for anyone, and I applaud everyone trying. Me being an immigrant in America has been one of my greatest struggles but it has also forged me into the young woman I am today.

I’m very proud of how far I’ve come, of how I’ve handled myself and I’m proud of the woman I’m today. I’m excited about my present, I’m excited about life itself, to see how it is going to unfold I’m also very excited about all my projects and the person I’m creating.

I got to where I am today by believing that I could go as far as wanted to go. It wasn’t easy, of course not but what helped me and encouraged me to keep going is that the validation, motivation and support wanted to get from others, I gave to myself first. I do know that there are people who believe in me and I’m very grateful for them, but I have always known that the only thing that will take me through anything and everything through this life is my faith in me.

I’ve learned a lot but the most important lesson I learned is to be my first source for everything. before looking for something outside, first to look inside. I’ve been let down countless number of times by people I love, put my faith in and trusted, this taugh me that anyone can let you down, but I could not let myself down. I’ve also learned to not hold it against them but to use that as a lesson and it has made me more self-reliant, and more accountable.

what I want the world to know about me, is that I aspire to always be true to myself to be an authentic person, to stand by what believe in, to advocate for truth, I want the world to know that I live my truth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

my best friend currently lives in Spain, she has never been here but if she were visiting Denver there are lots of things I’d love to do with her and show her. First I’d prepare her a nice home cooked meal upon her arrival, be a good host to her so that she feels as comfortable and as relaxed as possible in my space. we are both very witty and love to have fun therefore I’d take her to a Scatta party, which is an event that takes place every weekend and they play afro beats and carrebeans music. Which we both enjoy very much as we are both from Africa. The next day I’d take her to the redrocks for a hike which is really an excuse to talk and catch up and at the same time get some exercise in. For lunch we’d go to north Italia in cherry creek which is one of my favorite restaurants, they serve delicious Italian foods. that evening I’d encourage us to stay in an do something Cozy like a movie. altought i enjoy being outside, I’m really an introvert, I’d most likely take her to a barns and nobles so that we can get our favorite books and for the rest of the week, I’d introduce her to my friends here, go all together to a sip and wine, and maybe a round of lazer tag at Main Event. And if she’s here during the summer, we wouldn’t miss Eliches , I would love to try as many crazy rides with her as possible and just have fun like we used.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think everyone in my life past or present deserves a shoutout and recognition for where I am on my journey today. I’m very fortunate to have loving and supportive friends, and family they are truly a blessing, I also give a shoutout to those who weren’t so kind to me because they taught me to be kind to myself and they pushed towards my destiny. I believe everything happens for a reason. Most importantly shoutout to my mama, Mimi for being my ride or die always, her faith in me is truly the best gift.
