We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaclyn Haugen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaclyn, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?

In a professional aspect, the most difficult decision I had to make was leaving my 6-figure corporate marketing management job and pursuing my own business as my sole endeavor.

No one ever said that running your own show was easy but it can be a little terrifying when you make the decision to transition from a career that you built over 10+ years to be your own boss. Once the decision was made, it’s hard not to have the “holy-sh*t” moment when you look at the laundry list of items that need to be checked off to ensure you are doing the right steps to be successful.

It was also very difficult getting used to running the whole operation without a team. I have recently expanded to work with various other small business owners and marketing resources but those connections do not come instantly. It took years of running my business, making mistakes, and learning from them to learn how to be successful on your own.

Looking back at the choice to start my own business and do it on my own, I do not regret any of it! The sleepless nights, the neverending workload, the slow times when you wonder if the next client will come in…..it is all part of the adventure that we get to experience as small business owners.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a very simple girl so I would say sushi lunch at Kurosawa for a delicious sushi lunch and 20 Mile Tap House to have beers on the patio after!
