We had the good fortune of connecting with Jade Spurr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jade, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think that the idea of risk is subjective to the individual. What might be really scary for one person is a walk in the park for another, and vice Versa. It all depends on your mindset towards fear and challenge. For me, I have learned that I become miserable when I settle for less then what im passionate about. Even if less means safer, more comfortable, and easier then the challenge and fear of walking through the dark to my hearts desire. I would rather live in a place of uncertainty with possibility then to never find out the full potential of my dreams. So that at the end of my life I can say “I died trying”, even if I never make it. So each time I am presented with a fork in the road of my life, the biggest risk I consider is my happiness, more then my comfortability. Hard work is worth the sleepless nights if you feel in your heart its worth it. Our mind often tries to play tricks on us telling us that “we can’t do it” or “or that its impossible”, but our minds are the same tricksters that told us the boogie man was real when we were kids. Even though it felt real, it wasn’t. Since our minds are not very reliable, I know I can trust on my heart to guid me. The biggest challenge is when people close to me doubt me, which makes me doubt myself. That can be damaging and painful especially when its people your trust. The truth is they don’t know what you know, so its important to forgive them for not understanding and continue walking on your path not theirs. Your the one who has to walk in shoes that sometimes you didn’t choose, so you might as well decide where they go.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am not sure who I am first, an actor or a content creator. I fell in love with acting at 8 years old when I did my first short film. Then at 11 I was given a small bit on Comedy Central’s Norm Macdonald’s sports Show, and that was the exact moment I decided yup. I want to be on stage for the rest of my life. Since then I have been nominated for best actress at the Queen Palms Film Festival and awarded best duo at the Los Angeles International Film Festival. Along with acting I have been working on my youtube channel daily. My channel is fairly new so I am still working on the process of my come up. I am mostly focusing on sustainable fashion, because while I do love the self expression that clothing offers, I think the trend of mass consumption has been proven harmful not only for our planet but our mental health as well. I started off following the trends of fast fashion for views but quickly started to feel a disconnect and lowered integrity. I looked for the root of this feeling, and it was that I felt guilty for contributing to the mindless consumerism. Don’t get me wrong I love shopping, but I prefer to have purpose with my actions. I am a big nature girly, so I wanted to focus on something thats planet oriented and still femininely expressive. So lately I have been creating content that promotes brands who have eco friendly products and are still fashion forward. If you wan’t to keep your consumption clean, and look fresh at the same time I’m your girl. I have also been working on creating my own leisure wear brand. I am currently in the process of finding the right eco friendly manufacture for my product. I hope to launch this year, so stay tuned.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have a few favorite places in colorado that I would definitely share with friends. My favorite place to have lunch with is Machete Taco in downtown Denver. The tacos there are an exquisite combination of street style tacos, and gourmet exploration. My personal favorite is the pescado tacos. The squid ink tortillas give it a fun twist. If your in the mood for an exotic drink, and high class ambience, for a decent price I would suggest The Walton room in downtown Denver. This isn’t just a cocktail bar, it’s an experience. Of course on my way to Breckinridge I always stop by the historical little mining town of Idaho Springs. There you can can find the BEST gluten free pizza in your life at Beau Jos. Being gluten free its hard to find a pizza that doesn’t taste like cardboard. And to pair pizza with ice cream Bonnie Brae Is the spot to go. They have my two favorite flavors of banana, and cinnamon.
Flying over to California my top three spots to visit on the southern coast would start with Mel Rose avenue. This is where the experiment of fashion trends start. Between boutiques and parades of people, you get a taste of every sub culture in L.A. My second spot would be the small town of Ojai. The holistic American restaurant The Nest, and sleepy oak trees put you in a tranquil regenerative state. You feel refreshed after your time there. My last suggestion would be hanging out on the Ventura coastline. A quite little beach town with a historical down town, and clean uncrowded beach’s to spend the day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give appreciation to my parents, for always supporting my dreams and celebrating even my smallest victories. My mom has always been my number one cheerleader. My dad has given me the strongest foundation to build my dreams on and worked hard to give me every opportunity he could. I am so thankful to have had Jeffery Meek, Acting Coach for the most important formative years to teach me what it means to be human, and the stories of life. I appreciate everyday the resources my extended family and friends have provided me. And of course my three younger cousins who have been my little fans since day one. I often think about the kind of future you will live in, and the kind of example I set. I want to show them that anything is possible no matter how big or small. The love that has been given to me, I want to give back to all of them.
