Meet JahSue | Music Artist & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with JahSue and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JahSue, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic career because I’ve always wanted to positively impact the world through music. I grew up on a variety of music but Rap/Hip-Hop has always been a staple in my life and it has a major impact on who I am as a person. Listening to artist like 2Pac, Eminem, Biggie, and even more modern artist like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar made me want to influence the world by telling stories through art. If my music even helps just one person, my career has been a success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My path to success had a lot of obstacles at the beginning. No one wanted to work with a Hip-Hop artist who had no prior experience and honestly I don’t blame them. Because of that I started to produce, record, mix, and master my music all by myself. I even put together all my own promotional and marketing visuals for my music. There were a lot of learning curves but after a few months of nonstop practice and patience I finally got the hang of it. Most up and coming artist attempt to do everything on their own but become overwhelmed by the amount of work that goes into it, especially if you care about the level of quality you put into your work. But that doesn’t really set me too far apart from my peers because most of them are doing it all on their own just like me.
There are two factors that I believe truly set me apart from my peers. The first is, I do all the above for all three other artist on my label, all while running the label and our clothing brand. The second is my sound, I don’t believe there is any artist out there who sounds identical to me. I never wanted to follow the blueprint created by another artist, I wanted to created my own. It is too easy to copy and hop on the success of others in order to gain your own. I want to be one of the greatest to ever do it, and to be that, I have to be unique.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love my city. Colorado Springs is my home and I’m proud to call it that. If I had to show someone a good time here I would definitely treat them to the downtown experience, a walk through Manitou, and introduce them to how beautiful our nature here is.
There are two spots downtown I love to hit up on my down time, The Perk Downtown and Jack Quinn’s Irish Pub. The Perk Downtown is a coffee shop, it’s always very quiet and peaceful so I’ll visit here if I ever want to get out of the studio but still get work done. Coming here for a coffee and read a book is my favorite. Jack Quinn’s on the other hand is my go to spot when I crave a drink, they also make some of the best wings in town. Both downtown and both low key spots because that’s how I like to keep it, and because I surrounded myself with like minded people, bringing friends here to chill and reacquaint would be definitely be on the itinerary.
A walk through Manitou is always going to be on the list of things to do. From the shops, to the great outdoors, and everything in between Manitou has always been a place that provides peace and new ideas. To me it just flows with creative energy and local love. Also for my fitness friends there is always the incline so you can never go wrong with a trip to Manitou.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. She’s been my number one fan since day one and truly allowed me to be myself as a kid. Without her I don’t think this version of me would exist. My little sister too, she motivates me to want to set the right example for her and prove that you can do anything you want in life if you’re willing to put in the work. I always put my family before anything. The success wouldn’t be worth it if they weren’t here to share it with me.
I would also like to shoutout the artist I have signed to my record label called Reinvented Music. N-Emi, Matt Bars & JD Payne have all had a major impact on my career. The four of us have been working together as business partners and music collaborators for over 4 years now and without them I couldn’t imagine where my career would be right now. Together we have performed more shows than I can count, created more music than my computer has space for, started our record label Reinvented Music, and even started a clothing brand called Reinvented Clothing. Big things are coming in 2022 and I can’t wait to show the world what we have in store for y’all.
