We had the good fortune of connecting with Jairo Barsallo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jairo, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my favorite quotes is from “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. “Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.” This quote resonates with me as it is why I do what I do as an Artist. As long as I can remember Music and Art have always been dear to me. I am always learning in this field, and I know it will continue to consistently be where I will find treasure. It is on going treasure, with self exploration, the people I connect with around my field or admirers of the field, documenting my progression as an Artist, and continuing to create and make opportunities happen.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a musician and composer. Music has always been a constant since I was young from experiencing live music in family gatherings and events, church, my father’s latin and rock group, and other musical groups I’ve been fortunate to be apart of over time. Through all the dedicated hours and experience, humility and kindness has been important for me within artist communities and who ever I’m around. I also want to keep taking risks and learning!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a best friend was visiting the area, we’d start the day going get some Tea and coffee at Prodigy Coffee or Lula Rose. Go Skate Dayton or Denver Skatepark (if it’s a Besty that skates), go thrifting a couple places including Ten Penny. In the evening go eat at La Diabla, afterward head for some drinks over at Pon Pon, then go to a show at the world famous Hi dive. The Itinerary can change of course as there’s many great places to go check out.
All these places are surrounded by kind and genuine people!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out my family. For their sacrifices, their love, and support. I am grateful and blessed to say each family member has unique and amazing qualities that have been influential to who I am today, lending a part in my lens and creative perspective.
