Meet Jake Miltenberger | Guitarist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Miltenberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jake, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Staying genuine. Whether it be in my own personal relationships, or in my music, that’s a huge deal to me. There’s no reason to try and f*ke something you’re not in music, you’ll have an easier time connecting with an audience if you’re not putting on a facade.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When it comes to music and playing guitar, what i’m most proud of is my versatility, being able to blend into different styles. I was able to get where I am professionally due to help and encouragement from friends who are professionals. It’s not easy, and making music for a living never is. Along the way, i’ve learned that the best thing you can do for yourself is being a good hang. You can be the best player in the game, but if you’re not enjoyable to be around when the gig isn’t happening, it’s going to make getting hired a lot harder.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d make sure we saw a show at Red Rocks while they’re here. That’s a venue that everyone needs to experience in their lifetime, especially music fans. I’d make sure that we see a couple of good music shops if they were a musician, like Flipside Music and Monkton Guitars. In terms of food, i’d want to make sure we hit some of the staples like Romanos in South Denver.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe everything i’ve done in the music scene to the friends who’ve taken me under their wing in the past few years. Guys like Kory Montgomery, Shawn Eckels, Taylor Scott, and Dave A’bear. If not for them, I wouldn’t be working on stage and behind the scenes.
