We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Sharpe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jake, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Since I was a child,I’ve loved music and specifically rap music. My dad first introduced me to rap music when I was like 3. He used to play artist like Eminem, 50 cent, and Ludacris and I would try to rap along, not knowing the actual words. He always thought it was cool and he would push me to rap in front of people and I fell in love with the feeling of being able to give joy to people by just by doing something I love. And so my thought process behind starting to make music was I want to leave a mark on this world in some way shape or form and I want that mark to be something that people, especially my family can listen back to and have a fond memory.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to think that when I’m making music or performing I leave a piece of myself either on the stage or in a song. Whether it’s something personal, something I like or am interested in, or just something cool or goofy. I always try to leave a part of me in everything I do. I’m most proud of my album “G Alien King” since I’ve released that album I did my first 2 tours, thanks to my homie R. Dreamz for putting me on, I’ve got to connect with alot of people and have learned alot about how you have to move in this business and how you have to be careful, but you also have to take risks, and if something doesn’t pan out you just step back, breathe and keep pushing. At the end of the day people will say everything comes down to money, that’s wrong in my opinion. At the end of the day it comes down to did do your best and did you leave a good memory for somebody cause that’s all we will ever have are the memories. And that’s what I want with my music to be able to capture memories that make people happy or take people back.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the University Park Mall in Mishawaka, IN. take them to St. Joe to walk downtown and get some Silver Beach pizza. Take them down to the beach to see lake Michigan. And take them to eat at the Crimson Cafe for Breakfast.
