We had the good fortune of connecting with James Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi James, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Our business focuses on not only celebrating fine art. But also redefining what fine art looks like. We have apprenticeship programs and workshops for children and adults to learn and grow new techniques in art as well business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me a part from other artists is I have a tech side. I like to create art that animates off the walls, and bring the art to life in a way you don’t usually see. I can take any painting and create an animated version with the help of an app.
I got to where I am today by honestly making a lot of mistakes. I am the risk taker out of everyone I know. I believe in doing everything I can to reach new heights in life. And throughout all my ventures, the only one that’s ever helped me elevate was Art. I have been a graphic designer, web designer, photographer, videographer, audio engineer and so much more. But tattoos and painting have saved my life.
I overcame every obstacle by one factor, consistency. I’m doubted a lot. By friends, family, and even my own head. The only thing that keeps me focused is consistency. It’s like exercising, you will want to give up right before you start seeing results. But you won’t see any results if you stop.
I want the world to know that the term “starving artist” only exists to those who aren’t consistently focuses on elevating. Use your resources, pay attention to what works and what doesn’t. Talk to strangers, meet new people. And never stop learning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite places to visit in the city are:
Garden of the gods I never go wrong with the mountains and other national parks. I feel the greatest part of Colorado is the outdoors.
After that I would take them to downtown Denver to see more sites and experience food like kachina Kantina.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Kevin Johnson. He is an artist as well as my mentor. He is a fine art painter, and published comic book author who has work all over Colorado Springs as well as other parts of the world. Truly worthy of recognition.
