We had the good fortune of connecting with James Clifford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Parenting is something that will forever be the most important role and responsibility I have ever had! To raise a human, to support a person through years of growth and exploration that will eventually join the world as an adult is not easy! Watching your own children grow, explore, understand, fail, learn, teach, love, respect, and so much more is incredible and something that you truly need to slow down and enjoy.

Being a dad is awesome, allowing both my son and daughter the ability to be who they want to be is something that has had a huge impact on them. They both have turned into amazing kind humans and as a family to enjoy life, share the values that help them be the best they can and let them be who they want to be is what all parents should offer their children.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Following my passion got me to today! When I completed high School, I decided it was time to go have fun. Adventure awaits everyone, you just need to take a few steps outside that comfort zone to go find it.

I have been very lucky to work with some amazing brands, each of those brands has trusted me and allowed for my strengths to over shadow my weaknesses. Being myself, being fun but understanding that there is always a finish line to go through has been a way for me to find enjoyment in all of my accomplishments. Knowing when to walk away and to recognize that maybe something is not fun anymore is never easy but it is also a big factor in life.

When I started out I was in the thick of it, I loved events and being a part of making history. Then came the bigger picture, the what and why questions and the ultimate expectations that brands have with outcome. Outcome is not always something you can or wish to predict but to link together a plan to let concepts become reality to people is something that is always fun to aim for.

I have been very lucky to share my passion with my family and friends, to be places I never imagined I’d be and to be part of events and activations around the world that are magical. I would say though, the best part of all that I have done is to look back at the relationships that have formed. I’ve been so very lucky to meet some of the best and I thank all of them for helping me get to where I am.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Visiting Lake Tahoe is very special, you can drive around it and see its true beauty. However if you don’t stop and touch it, jump in it or even sit and watch it you are really missing out. We have a ton of amazing places to eat in this region, but it does not get any better than a to-go of any kind and a sandy beach or big slab of granite with your feet in the water type of venue to enjoy it.

Day one, go ski and then visit the lake
Day two, ski again and go back to the lake
Day three, go on a hike, granite peaks and mountain lakes.
Day four, explore the Truckee river.. rest and relax
Day five, visit downtown Truckee or North Lake Tahoe.. Check that box!
Day six, ski and return to the lake
Day seven, fat breakfast at Firesign in Tahoe City and pack up the bags and drop them at the airport.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family deserves the biggest shoutout.. From my parents to my siblings all the way down to my wife and my children. Family is so important to strong foundations and overall success, without strong foundations nothing is truly secure.
