We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Uhl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are the actions that kick-up all the “stuff” in our minds. It starts as an idea — it excites us and gets the blood pumping and the creativity flowing. As we think about it and consider taking action, it kicks-up the “what ifs,” worries, fears, and doubts within us. Which is where when then label it as a Risk. Risks are subjective — they are not fact. To me, risks have shown up in many ways in both my life and in my business. However, they have come to be some of my favorite and most fulfilling actions I have taken. When I began to pursue my passion for photography, the risk was starting my first business. When I was unhappy and unfulfilled in my cubicle corporate day job, the risk was deciding to leave. When it was taking longer to get my second business going, the risk was to keep trying. Did I know what I was doing? Was it possible? Was I making the right decision? What if I failed? Hell, what if I succeeded? In life, risks looked like walking away from toxic relationships and yet trying again, getting married, making decisions that were against the norm, traveling to new places, building businesses, healing from my past, investing in myself, and saying yes to what feels exciting and right for me. To me, taking risks in my life and my business means listening to what I deeply want, even if it scares me and I don’t know how it’s going to turn out, and diving in anyway. I would rather take the risk than wonder what would have happened.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2013, I started my first business. I’ve gone from making just $520 my first year in business and struggling with feeling not good enough to running three profitable & sustainable businesses from the ground up, including my photography business, Underexposed, my coaching business, and a small Virtual Assitant agency. As a Mindset & Success Coach, I help business owners and multipassionates to stop feeling like an imposter and build the right business for them so they can create the confidence and wealth they desire & live life on their own terms! The #WATCHME™ brand I started encourages others to embody a strong mindset to go after what they want so they can own their power, feel confident, build the wealth and success they desire. In my coaching practice, I combine 10+ years of corporate experience, 7+ years of entrepreneurship, MBA, and certificates in Life Coaching, CBT for coaching, and NLP. I take an individualized and holistic approach to coaching in a high-touchpoint, one-on-one container to integrate Life + Mindset + Business coaching and now offer a variety of tools and courses to be more accessible to business owners new or growing. I’m most proud of the challenges I experienced when starting my businesses. There were days I was in tears and wanted to throw in the towel, but I deeply believed this was the work and purpose I was meant for and kept going. My resiliancy, the lessons I learned, and my dedication were the most important experience to me so I could better support my clients today! So if you’re feeling frustrated and wondering if you’re good enough to make it happen but feel the deeper drive that you’re meant to do this, keep going! In hindsight, you always see how the dots connect to create your success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To me, some of the best places are the cutest small business coffee shops I can find! Even as a native to Colorado, I continue to seek out and explore coffee shops — specifically those who serve you a pretty latte in a real mug, not just a to-go cup! I have some favorites for coffee and tea around the Denver-metro area that I would highly recommend and some up the mountain near Silverthorn and Vail. In a normal year (non-COVID), I would also take them to some of the iconic music venues around the city — Red Rocks, The Gothic, Bluebird, etc. for some of my favorite local music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to the people in my life who have seen me for me and supported me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. My mentors and role models, my mastermind sisters, my amazing husband, and each and every one of my incredible clients who allow me to do the work I absolutely love. And one of the most important books in my journey, Inspired & Unstoppable: Wildly Succeeding in Your Life’s Work! by Tama Kieves: “Creating the work you love is not a path of doing everything right. Creating the work you love is a path of doing everything right — for you.”
