Meet Jamie Laskie | Mortgage Advisor and Noco Boss Babes Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Laskie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, what do you want your legacy to be?
When I reflect on the legacy I wish to leave behind, it centers on being a beacon of empowerment and education in the financial world. Starting my mortgage career at 19, I quickly realized the vast gap in financial literacy and made it my mission to bridge this divide. I want to be remembered as someone who deeply cared about people, not just in a professional capacity, but in a way that genuinely enriched their lives through knowledge and empowerment.
My involvement with initiatives like Noco Boss Babes and Women Build is a testament to my commitment to this cause. These platforms have allowed me to champion the empowerment of women, helping them take control of their financial destinies and overcome societal obstacles. My legacy, I hope, will be that of a compassionate leader who inspired others to embrace financial literacy and made a lasting impact on housing accessibility and women’s empowerment in the community.
As I look to the future, my aspiration is to further this impact, to continue breaking down barriers in financial education and to be a driving force for positive change, especially for women. I want to be remembered as someone who not only led with compassion and integrity but also as a catalyst for empowerment and change, inspiring others to believe in their ability to control their financial futures and make a difference in their communities

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey in the mortgage industry began at the young age of 19. It’s been a path marked by bold decisions and resilience, exemplified when I purchased my own home at 22 after transitioning from engineering college to banking. This career has never been easy, but it’s been immensely rewarding. The early challenges, like facing layoffs in my initial banking roles, taught me the importance of perseverance and adaptability.
Leading with logic and kindness has been a fundamental aspect of my approach, which has not only helped me navigate the industry but also contributed significantly to my success. Being recognized as a top producer in my age group is an achievement I hold dear, but the true fulfillment comes from the connections I make with my clients. Every five-star review is not just a validation of my efforts but a reminder of the impact I have in helping clients, particularly those who face daunting financial challenges or have been turned away elsewhere.
My success can be credited to the exemplary leaders who have inspired me and the mentors who believed in my potential and gave me opportunities to grow. Their encouragement was pivotal in my professional development.
Working in the mortgage sector is inherently challenging, with its market uncertainties and the intense responsibility it carries. However, I always remind myself of the significant role I play in helping people realize their American dream. This perspective keeps me grounded and drives me to excel in my field.
I’ve learned the importance of balancing a demanding career with self-care, family time, and personal wellbeing. Remembering to pause and value life outside of work is crucial for a fulfilling life.
To those aspiring for success, my advice is straightforward: aim high and relentlessly pursue your goals. Surround yourself with people who support and uplift you. My story is a testament to the fact that with hard work, determination, and the right support system, achieving your dreams is more than possible. More than anything do not be afraid to fail!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to take a friend around Fort Collins for a week, here’s how it would unfold:
Day 1: We’d start in Old Town, wandering the charming streets and enjoying breakfast at Silver Grill Café, famous for its cinnamon buns. After exploring local boutiques, we’d lunch at Coopersmith’s Pub & Brewing and wrap up with dinner at The Emporium Kitchen + Wine Market.
Day 2: A hike at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space would kick off our day, followed by a light lunch at Rainbow Restaurant. We’d then tour New Belgium Brewing and dine at The Farmhouse at Jessup Farm.
Day 3: Breakfast at Ginger and Baker would begin our day, then a leisurely afternoon at the Annual Flower Trial Garden. Dinner would be at Nick’s Italian, savoring homestyle cuisine.
Day 4: We’d visit Cache La Poudre River, lunch at Big City Burrito, and spend the afternoon at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. JAWS Sushi would be our dinner spot.
Day 5: Starting with breakfast at Avagadro’s, we’d shop in Old Town, visit Odell Brewing Company, and enjoy dinner at The Regional.
Day 6: A day at Gardens on Spring Creek and Spring Canyon Community Park, with meals at Tasty Harmony and Waltzing Kangaroo, would offer a more relaxed pace.
Day 7: We’d have breakfast at The Union Bar & Soda Fountain, visit Jessup Farm Barrel House, stroll in Fossil Creek Park, and conclude with dinner at the B&B Pickle Barrel.
This itinerary would offer a mix of outdoor activities, local culture, and culinary delights, showcasing the best of Fort Collins.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As I reflect on the journey to where I am today, it’s clear that my achievements are deeply rooted in the encouragement and wisdom imparted by several key individuals and groups. Foremost among them is my mother, whose guidance in the world of mortgages and financial literacy has been a foundational influence in my career.
Equally deserving of recognition is my father. His unwavering belief in the power of self-confidence and his commitment to thoughtful decision-making have been cornerstones in my development. His dedication to volunteering during my childhood not only inspires respect but has also instilled in me the values of community service and altruism.
I extend a heartfelt shoutout to Sharon Campbell, my branch manager. Her leadership and exemplary commitment to her team, especially as a vibrant professional in her 70s, have been a profound source of inspiration and learning for me.
My educators have played a significant role in shaping my perspective. Shelly Barnes, Christine Matthie, Kate Stevens, and all the staff at PSD Global have taught me the importance of caring about someone’s education and well-being, a lesson that has been instrumental in my life.
Networking groups, particularly those I’ve been involved with and my own Noco Boss Babes, have shown me the immense value of community in professional success and personal fulfillment.
Lastly, the support and understanding of my partner since the start of my mortgage career have been a constant source of strength and encouragement.
To all these individuals and groups, I dedicate this shoutout with deep gratitude. Their collective influence has been indispensable in my journey.
