We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Chevalier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jane, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Take Care Mama Massage champions and supports mothers from all backgrounds, particularly those who have lost touch with their self-care routines. Many moms, especially in suburban areas, juggle demanding schedules—either working 9-5 and coming home to family responsibilities or staying at home without respite. I aim to empower and support women through every stage of their maternal journey, from conception to veteran motherhood.
I offer a sanctuary of healing and rejuvenation tailored to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each mother. My approach includes creating moments of stillness and self-discovery with a personalized, nurturing touch in every session. My goal is to build a supportive, understanding community that challenges the traditional notion of motherhood.
I advocate for the “invisible paycheck” issue—where stay-at-home moms work as hard as their employed counterparts without visible recognition or breaks. My mission is to help these moms rediscover their voices, connect with valuable resources, and model self-care for their children. This approach will ripple through families and communities, fostering a culture where self-care for moms is valued and practiced.
Additionally, I am a board member of the non-profit You Are Not Alone (YANA), which connects new mothers to support networks and community groups at no cost. This partnership reflects my commitment to linking moms with essential resources and underscores the mission of Take Care Mama.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart in the fields of prenatal massage and yoga is a blend of personal and professional experiences that resonate deeply with my clients. I’ve walked in their shoes, whether it’s the demands of a 9-5 corporate job or the challenges of being a stay-at-home mom. Having taken a break from massage therapy to explore the corporate world, I’ve firsthand experience of how taxing it can be on both body and mind. Similarly, my years at home with my son have given me invaluable insight into the unique challenges stay-at-home moms face. This shared understanding allows me to connect with my clients on a profound level, as I’ve lived a similar story.
I began my massage career in 2010 and ran my own business for three years before taking a break in 2019. When I returned, I knew exactly what it took to build a successful business again—relationship building, a clear vision, and relentless dedication. It’s a journey fueled by passion, where the discovery is endless, much like falling in love with a soulmate. While this passion makes the work deeply fulfilling, it also brings vulnerability. Putting your entire self out there to the world is daunting, but it’s ultimately rewarding when you find “your people”—those who truly connect with your vision.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the power of discernment—knowing when to say yes and when to say no. This wisdom has guided me in finding my tribe and staying true to the heart of my business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a native and have had to fall in love with and rediscover Colorado a few times throughout my life.
When I was younger, my favorite spots to take visitors included:
-Red rocks during an afternoon rainstorm to watch the lighting over the city
-A show at Cervante’s Otherside (Is it still called that?)
-The rotating restaurants and drink spots in LoHi
-A bike ride from Capital Hill to the Rockies stadium during the summer and stopping at some of the bars or hot dog stands along the way
-Cruising the boutique shops on South Broadway and of course Goodwill (best one in Colorado)
-A walk or bike ride around Cheeseman Park
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband is one of the main reasons that I was able to make Take Care Mama Massage a reality. He is my equal in everything. He has been (and still is) a huge advocate for my self-care journey after being a mom. He is an equal parent with raising our son, he makes sure I have time to be with myself, friends, taking care of myself and my business. He even helps with a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff for Take Care Mama – all while working a 9-5 job and raising our son.
In addition, my immediate family has been a huge source of support as well as my close circle of friends! I’ve even reached out to old colleagues and clients from way back when and they’ve been a huge part of the successful trajectory of my business. My entire community in Douglas County as a whole including business partnerships I’ve made has helped Take Care Mama grow into what it is now. I am beyond blessed and so grateful!
