Meet Angela Smith | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success and my brand is staying true to myself while bringing attention to important topics. My goal is to make moving art that depicts what I believe in.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m am an artist based in Utah. My mom and siblings were very talented artists and I never thought I was any good at art. I believe that anybody can be an artist. I didn’t start to pursue my art career until 2020 during the pandemic. The world was in chaos and I wanted to make a difference, so I bought a iPad from Facebook marketplace for $200 and started making Black Lives Matter stickers. I gave them away for free to those who wanted them and my passion for art was born.
I am Black/Polynesian and I was adopted when I was a baby into a white family. Growing up different was really hard for me, but it also shaped me into who I am. I think that is why I am so passionate on hard topics that help minorities and the rights of those who do not have them.
Getting to this spot in my career has been very fulfilling but also very overwhelming. I’m a mother of 3 and it’s so hard to find a work life/mom balance. But I love it so much and I wouldn’t change anything.
My main medium is digital art but I also love to paint. I am a big fan of watercolor and everything floral. I am self taught and I learning everyday. This journey is teaching me and pushing me to become the best version of myself.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am today without the support of my husband and biggest supporter. My entire family are my cheerleaders.
