We had the good fortune of connecting with Janice and Lloyd Leflet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janice and Lloyd, what do you want your legacy to be?
What do you want your legacy to be? What do you want people to remember about you? The Covey Events is a small business, with the goal and intent to provide a place for caring, sharing, and making beautiful lasting Memories.
The Covey owners, Lloyd and Janice Leflet, grew up in Larimer County and held strong the values of caring, sharing, and being a contributing part of the community.
If you dream it, believe in it, and are passionate about it, others will be drawn to that positivity and the values that make us successful. “It is All About The Memories”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are an event venue that holds various types of events: weddings, celebration of life, banquets, non-profit, etc. We opened our brand newly built barn in March of 2020, yes, you got it, right as COVID took the stage. The exterior of the barn looks like a large barn with large copulas; however, the elegant interior has two 10 x 8’ crystal chandeliers hanging from the center of the copulas’ and a 17 foot wide 22 feet tall rock fireplace. The rock is from a local rock quarry. The interior wall and ceiling are a warmth of color created by the beetle-killed pine wood, There are two dressing rooms each with a bathroom. Outside in the lush grass garden area, has various trees and bronze statues. At the end of the garden is a wrought iron pergola with a majestic view of the front range mountains as the back ground. The venue sits on 35 acres and is only 15 minutes from downtown Fort Collins.
The owners are at every event to make sure the special day goes as smoothly as possible. As we help with the event planning, our guests are encouraged to visit the barn multiple times so as to feel like it’s theirs and are comfortable with how they are planning their event. We want all of our clients to feel like family.
We love people and their stories. We like entertaining and helping people to do that. We are still growing and learning every day. The Covey is not unlike a Covey of Quail, it is a gathering place.

We have created an environment that is very peaceful, and hosts a fun-loving experience. Our goal when the day is done, is that cherished memories experienced will last a lifetime, whether a wedding, a celebration of life, a casual gathering or celebration, or a business meeting. Those who enter The Covey find a friend.
Finding community, sharing peace and joy and enjoyment, will provide peace of heart and you will find……
“It’s All About The Memories”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite spots in the city, will differ with the likes of the individual persons. Fort Collins and the surrounding area offer much in activities and in site seeing. The history of the area is quite interesting, and fun to investigate, and well some idea can be gathered by the buildings of the vibrant downtown Fort Collins, On a Friday and/or Saturday night, we would go into Wyoming passing antelope, and buffalo on the way to the BunkHouse in Wyoming, a heartwarming Saloon and Steakhouse, with an amazing band on the weekends. The food is great, the country band is excellent. The atmosphere is like you went back to the old west days. www.bunkhousebar.com

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Lloyd and I both grew up in, let’s say much less than functional families. What we were given is the blessings of events, people, and acquaintances that came into our lives. You never know when a chance meeting will change your heart in a very powerful way. We worked hard through our childhoods, in various jobs starting at the age of 12. Our parents and grandparents did teach us the value of honor and hard work. My father was an “Old Breed” Master Sergeant in the US. Marine Corp. as well as the Generations that followed the ancestry arrived in the New World in the early 1600’s and served this country well.
We have had a daughter pass away on her 19th birthday with a brain aneurysm. Our tagline is from a couple we met on our first trip to Europe. She was in a wheelchair, and we found them so enjoyable we spent a couple of days with them and assisting them in going up the hilly city. They had been traveling to several places and were going on to Russia. She conveyed that when she had her surgery and was on the operating table, she kept seeing her lovely memories. She paused and softly said: “It is all about the Memories” They were on a journey to make more memories before she succumbed to brain cancer. Truly life is “All about the Memories”
There is nothing like serving your community. Nothing like bringing the opportunity of joy to families and friends.
