We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Muniz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
There are so many wonderful aspects of life that fill my heart with happiness and djing is one of them. There is nothing quite like sharing music and curating moments of joy for people. When I am on stage sharing what I love, I feel pure joy. All the stress of the day, things I’m worried about in life, and so on, just disappear. I become the music and it flows through me. These are some of the quietest moments of my life; my mind is at peace. Plus as an intuitive person, I can read a room and curate the perfect vibe. I feel connected to the crowd and listen to what they want.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Djing is more than just a hobby to me. It brings me so much joy; filling my heart with happiness and love, as well as providing a huge outlet for my mental health. I feel great pride with how far I have come in just a year and a half; the skills I gained as well as the numerous shows and festivals I have played. There have been moments where it has felt effortless; where things have seemingly fell into place. However, there is a lot of work there goes along with these moments as well. I spend a lot of my free time practicing, looking for new venues, bookers, and events to connect with. I am constantly looking for ways to expand, grow, and challenge myself. For example, one my next ventures is learning to produce my own tracks! My advice would be is if you’ve been wanting to try something new; just go for it. Who knows, maybe you’ll be a natural and it will click on the first try or maybe it won’t. Either way, you’ve got to start somewhere if you want to make a change. I didn’t set out to become a dj or to fall in love with it, it was a pleasant surprise. I started because I had always wanted to learn and one day I finally decided to buy myself a $300 starter controller and see what it was like. I feel lucky that is has blossomed into something so much more than I could have imagined.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First thing I would do is take them hiking at Lake Isabelle; show them what Colorado nature has to offer and one of the many reasons I love it here. I would take them to one of Denver’s many art districts, walk around and check out local breweries, art, and food. While they were in town I would have to take them to Boulder’s newest club and venue, Supermoon. This is a place I DJ often and love the vibe they are curating. It has a well-balanced mix of Miami meets Mountain town with their glowing neon black-light reactive plants, neon light-up signs, and brand new sound system,
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have experienced a lot of love and support from friends and fans who have seen me play then passed my name along to connections in the industry. I feel grateful to have played many shows and festivals from these kinds of interactions.
