Meet Christian Phelps | Organizer & Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Phelps and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christian, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up in Orange in Orange County California. My parents are still living in the same house that we moved to when I was 7 years old. As long as I can remember I was always organizing and moving things around to fit in my space. I feel growing up I was always applying my organizational skills, especially when it came to school and later in the jobs and work I did. This is what drew me to get my home organizing certification and provide home organizing services along with coaching. Growing up my space was always organized and I feel that organization allowed me to accomplish more and gave me the physical space and mental space to breathe easier and not feel overwhelmed, like so many people are feeling these days. I truly believe our space is a reflection of what is happening mentally. Organizing a space and freeing up the physical and mental clutter can open up a new pathway so that you can feel more calm and accomplish more.
I feel my passion and background to pursue coaching steamed from my life after high school journey. I did not take a traditional path. After high school I chose to attend Orange Coast College, a local junior college, receiving my AA degree. I mention this as I felt this was a great opportunity to get my general education completed at a lower cost and it allowed me the time to decide on a major and work while going to college. This was also a great option as my SAT scores were not high enough to receive needed scholarships and merit money to attend a 4 year university. After receiving my AA degree it opened the doors for me to transfer to a UC school in California. I chose UCLA and received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. I mention this as I feel this journey is what has inspired me to help students navigate a purposeful path for them as they plan and prepare for life after high school. I feel there are so many pathways and options for students to take that they are unaware of and going straight into a 4 year university is not always the best option. Especially, if students don’t know their major, the job they are working towards, and have the means to pay for it. With the cost of college these days, students really do need an organized plan. Part of having a plan, is helping students discover their strengths, skills, and talents and finding ways to connect them to what they want to do in a job/career, the problem they want to solve, goals they want to achieve, and unpacking the best way and giving them a place to start to get there.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Path2Purpose Coaching, LLC is about helping people calm the chaos in their life and space. I offer home organizing services, student success coaching, and life coaching services. What sets my business apart is I feel I bring a whole health perspective and a place to start for clients. My business started after I became a Certified Brain Health Coach. From there I continued my education and earned certificates as a Life Coach, Life Purpose Coach, Career Coach, Mindfulness Practice, Advanced Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping, and Home Organizer.
What I would want the world to know about me, my brand and my story is that I have always had a passion for helping people. I am a process person and enjoy finding a solution. I have a love of learning and reading self-help books. My family has always come before my business, but also been a part of why I started the business. The work I do has given me the flexibility and passion to help people. The tools, resources and information are all things I use in my own life.
Those that know me and have worked with me know that I am someone that comes into a situation or space and “moves the furniture around”. I strongly believe that organization, process, and efficiency can save you time. My greatest value is time, as it is something we never get back. If there is a better way to do something, let’s explore it! A change in perspective is a powerful thing. The only constant in life is change, however change can feel chaotic, hard, overwhelming, and scary. Whether it is organizing or coaching I am always looking at ways to calm the chaos, change perspective (“move the furniture around” physically or mentally), and value time by being productive and purposeful. The goal would be to worry less and accomplish more creating more joy in one’s life and space.
One of the lessons I have learned along the way is that what works for one person does not work for another. There is not a one-size fits all solutions when it comes to organizing and coaching. I really work to meet people where they are in their life and provide solutions that are personalized to meet their needs, helping them achieve the results they are looking for.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is a lot to explore in Colorado. It would really be up to them. When my girlfriend was here visiting last she wanted to explore Garden of the Gods. We had lunch at the café at Garden of the Gods while we waited for our jeep tour. Our jeep tour took us all through Garden of the Gods, by the Broadmoor and up the mountain by Seven Falls to see waterfalls and explore back roads. After the tour we stopped into the Garden of the Gods Trading Post to shop and get some freshly made fudge. That evening we ended up in our cute downtown Castle Rock and had dinner at Dos Santos for tacos and margaritas. Walked around downtown shops and stopped into The Barn and The Emporium. I enjoy exploring Colorado, but also love showing off our quaint and growing Town of Castle Rock.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would dedicate my shoutout to the countless books I have read. I always found the guidance and strength I needed along the way by picking up a book. A few of my favorites have been “Notes from a Friend” by Tony Robbins, “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey, “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, “Find Your Why” by Simon Sinek, “Falling into Grace” by Adyashanti, ‘The Seat of the Soul” by Gary Zukav. The list goes on from self-help, motivation, habits, and spiritual practice.
My daughters have been my heart and purpose behind everything I do. All that I have learned along the way I have shared with them in hopes to help them accomplish more, worry less, and connect to a purposeful path forward.
My dear friend, Kelle Phillips was a big part of my spiritual journey and where I am today.
My brother-in-law, who struggles with mental health by helping him, encouraged me to further pursue becoming a Certified Brain Health Coach that launched my coaching business in 2014. The work of Dr. Amen and the Amen Clinic deserve a shoutout as well. Learning about SPECT Imaging changed the course of treatment and allowed my brother-in-law to receive disability for a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) that had gone undiagnosed.
