We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay & Darbi Ziesler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jay & Darbi, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to not judge anyone’s situation and to just love one another. We don’t know what others are going through. We all have our own struggles and we all deal with them however we are able and to the best to our ability. When a compassionate greeting in a yard is able to brighten someone’s day…it makes our day.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a yard carding business that stakes yard greetings throughout our community. The company’s beliefs, quality and boldness sets us apart from our competitors. For these reasons it makes it easy to show our signs off by having the superior product. We got where we are today by hard work, and taking pride in each sign and making sure the customer is getting the best that we have to offer. It’s never easy starting up a business but developing the systems and implementing those systems make it easier in the long run. By doing this we are able to put the focus back into why we bought the franchise in the first place and that was to help spread joy. I mean we all can use more joy in our lives, right?
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being from NOCO area I would highly recommend heading up into the mountains. There are so many great things to go and do in the foothills. We’ve got tons of fishing, camping, rock climbing, and hiking either up the Poudre Canyon, or the Big Thompson Canyon. Going up the big Thompson Canyon will lead you to one of our favorite spots of Estes Park. There are also more outdoorsy type fun with a short drive up to Wyoming. For things to do a bit more local, we like to go down to Old Town Fort Collins for great restaurants and shopping. They often have concerts, and events throughout the summer months giving us tons of new things to go do. Wellington also have some great brewery’s and restaurants where all the locals like to hang out. We live in a very special place that screams community. With all this said it makes our jobs easy to get out there to join in with all the fun not only to help support a local business or event going on but how impactful our signs can make for our community.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our shoutout begins with our family. Our kids are old enough to help us with set ups and pick ups. They are always ready to jump in when needed. Jay’s mother who is always so helpful around the house in which helps us focus on our business in spreading joy. Lastly, our helper Tawni Kane. She is dedicated in helping us spread joy. By doing this she is able to give back to her community that really reached out to her and her family during a very hard time. Bringing that joy to others through Card My Yard Wellington brings joy into our hearts.
